A.F.F.A WEEK SIXTEEN FRIDAY NIGHT RESULT



( 5-10 ) Philadelphia Freedom- 34  ( 8-7 ) Virginia Tritons- 10

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:  Brandon Whitaker ran for three touchdowns as the Philadelphia Freedom ran roughshod over the Virginia Tritons 34-10 at Talen Energy Stadium Friday night before 19,265.

Whitaker finished the night with 87 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns.  Kory Sheets ran 19 times for 86 yards. Drew Willy completed 18 of 41 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown with 2 sacks. Fred Stamps had 5 receptions for 76 yards and a score.  Tom Wort led the defense with 8 tackles, 1 hurry and a forced fumble. Kwon Alexander recorded a sack.

Virginia was led by quarterback Mike Bercovici who completed 27 of 49 passes for 319 yards and a touchdown with 1 sack. The Tritons rushing attack was stifled, rushing for only 5 yards on only 10 carries. JJ Nelson caught 3 passes for 109 yards including a 79 yard touchdown reception. Chad Owens had 7 receptions for 72 yards. Khalil Bass had 10 tackles, a sack, a pass deflection, a stuff and a hurry to lead the Tritons defense. Brandon Spikes had 6 tackles, a sack, a pass deflection and a hurry. Hayes Pullard recorded 7 tackles, a pass deflection, a stuff and a hurry in the loss for Virginia.

With Virginia's loss, the Pittsburgh Ironmen claimed their third consecutive Atlantic Division title.  Virginia remains in the playoff hunt but needs help.
