TRAINING CAMP NEWS (2-11-19)

    Portland, Oregon;  Jonothan Jennings has staked his claim to the Pioneers starting quarterback job. Jennings, a CFL product, completed 16 of 23 passes for 211 yards and 2 touchdowns in Portland's 17-7 preseason scrimmage win over the Omaha Bulls Saturday night. 

Jennings is in a heated quarterback battle with last seasons starter Bryan Bennett. Bennett played sparingly completing 5 of 11 passes for 73 yards. He ran 3 times for 17 yards. 

" Both Jon and Bryan have worked really hard. Both are excellent quarterbacks with different skill sets. I would be comfortable having either one starting for this team. " said Portland head coach Jim Zorn . 

Also:  

Houston Knights tight end Asa Watson suffered a slight dislocation of his right shoulder in the Knights 13-10 preseason scrimmage loss to Columbus. He is expected to take Monday and Tuesday off, then return to practice Wednesday.  

Chicago Stags starting quarterback Brandon Doughty sat out Chicago's 22-3 preseason scrimmage win over the Philadelphia Freedom. 

" Brandon is fine. I just wanted to give Vernon (Adams) some extensive playing time. He did quite well. " said head coach Ted Cattrell.
