Saturday Results! February 24, 2018



Virginia Tritons  ( 1-0 )- 10   New York Emporers  ( 0-1 )- 6

Brooklyn, New York:  Mike Bercovici completed 15 of 31 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown as the Virginia Tritons defeated the New York Empire 10-6.
Kenneth Dixon rushed for 63 yards on 11 carries. Donatella Luckett had 5 catches for 66 yards and a score.

David Parry led the Tritons defense with 8 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 stuff and a hurry. Bobby Richards also contributed with 8 tackles, 1 stuff and 3 hurries.

New York was led by quarterback Johnny Manziel who completed 20 of 42 passes for 161 yards. He was sacked 6 times.  Lamar Miller ran 18 times for 88 yards. Howard Jones led the Empire defense with 9 tackles and 2 hurries.

Memphis Hound Dogs  ( 1-0 )- 41   Orlando Vipers  (0-1)- 10

Memphis, Tenn: Memphis veteran quarterback Ricky Ray threw for 245 yards and 4 touchdowns, while completing 12 of 14 passes to lead the Hound Dogs over the Orlando Vipers 41-10.

Cameron Artis Payne ran for 104 yards and a score on 19 carries. Neal Sterling caught 3 passes for 68 yards and 2 scores. AC Leonard had 5 catches for 48 yards and a score. Marcus Johnson had a 70 yard touchdown reception in the win.  Glenn Carson led the H-Dogs defense with  9 tackles and a pass deflection.

Orlando was led by quarterback RJ Archer, who made his first AFFA start. Archer completed 13 of 27 passes for 206 yards and a interception. Kenny Hillard ran for a score. Isaiah Burse caught 7 passes for 122 yards in the loss for the Vipers. Martrell Spraight recorded 10 tackles to lead the Vipers defense.

Carolina Breakers  ( 1-0 )- 23   Utah Mammoths  ( 0-1 )- 14

Raleigh, N.C:  Shane Carder completed 13 of 17 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown as the Carolina Breakers upset the Utah Mammoths 23-14 before 14,266 at Carter Finley Stadium Saturday.

Joique Bell ran for 73 yards on 18 carries.  Jacqiuzz Rodgers ran 12 times for 65 yards and a score. Captain Munnerlyn led the defense with 6 tackles.

Utah quarterback Dak Prescott led the Mammoths, throwing for 214 yards and 2 touchdowns. He completed 19 of 31 passes and was sacked twice. Madison Magnum had 4 receptions for 56 yards and a score.  DeAndre Carter caught 2 passes for 11 yards and a touchdown. D'Quan Bowers led the defense with 9 tackles and 5 stuffs.

Hartford Sentinels  ( 1-0 )- 27   Birmingham Barbarians  ( 0-1 )- 16

Birmingham, Al:  Connor Halliday tossed 3 touchdown passes while completing 18 of 27 passes for 271 yards to lead the Hartford Sentinels past the Birmingham Barbarians 27-16.

Antwan Goodley caught 4 passes for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 67 yarder. Jamal Robinson had two receptions for 38 yards and a score.

Rasheed Williams led Birmingham with 132 yards rushing and a score on 23 carries. Birmingham quarterback Trevor Harris completed 17 of 23 passes for 105 yards. He was sacked twice.

Oklahoma Roughnecks  ( 1-0 )- 28    Denver Miners  ( 0-1 )- 14

Denver, Colorado:  Thomas Rawls ran 24 times for 117 yards and 3 touchdowns as the  Oklahoma Roughnecks power by the  Denver Miners 28-14, before 29,622 at Sports Authority Field.

Quarterback Matt Johnson completed 15 of 22 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked twice.  Josh Harper caught 7 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown.

Denver quarterback Vad Lee completed only 6 of 20 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown, with 3 interceptions.  Lee also ran for 39 yards on 8 carries.  Antonio Andrews ran 10 times for 56 yards . Marqueis Gray caught 2 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown in the loss for Denver.

Houston Wranglers  ( 1-0 )- 33    Los Angeles Pharaohs  ( 0-1 )- 31

Carson, Calif:  Blake Sims threw for 252 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Houston Wranglers slipped by the Los Angeles Pharaohs 33-31. Sims completed 13 of 14 passes.  Kapri Bibbs ran for 63 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries.  Jeremiah Johnson ran 15 times for 75 yards. Johnson also had a touchdown reception.

 Deontay Grey caught 3 passes for 92 yards, including a 60 yard touchdown reception. Jean Sifrin had 5 catches for 90 yards. Jason Avant also had a touchdown reception. Tyler Davis led the Wranglers defense with 7 tackles and 1 hurry.

Los Angeles was led by Jay Ajayi who rumbled for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns on 25 carries.  Pharaohs quarterback Jeff Driskell completed 11 of 20 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. He was intercepted twice and sacked once. Mario Alford had a touchdown reception also in the loss.
