Pittsburgh Ironmen ( 1-0)- 20 Dallas Marshalls ( 0-1 )- 13
Dallas, Texas : Alex Carder completed 17 of 26 passes for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Pittsburgh Ironmen to a 20-13 victory over the Dallas Marshals at Gerald J Ford Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Gaffney ran for 60 yards on 11 carries. Luke Wilson caught 7 passes for 48 yards. KD Cannon had a 66 yard touchdown reception. Eric Rogers caught 5 passes for 43 yards and a score. Kavon Frazier and Rakeem Nunez led the defense with 7 tackles each.
Dallas was led by quarterback Mike Reilly threw for 245 yards and an interception. Ben Tate ran 22 times for 119 yards and a score. Bud Sasser had 4 receptions for 84 yards. Malcolm Mitchell caught 2 passes for 67 yards in the loss.
Georgia Generals ( 1-0 )- 20 Philadelphia Americans ( 0-1 )- 6
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Colin Kaepernick made his much anticipated AFFA debut Sunday. Kaepernick only threw for 91 yards, while completing 9 of 21 passes. He was very effective with his legs, rushing for 68 yards and 2 touchdowns on 6 carries in leading the expansion Georgia Generals to a 20- 6 victory over the Philadelphia Americans.
Tyler Ervin rushed for 137 yards on 23 carries. Jordan Williams had 4 receptions for 47 yards. Treston Decoud led the defense with 9 tackles.
John Crockett ran for 143 yards on 17 carries to lead Philadelphia. Drew Willy completed 14 of 21 passes for 148 yards. Fred Stamps caught 5 passes for 66 yards. Danny Trevathan led the defense with 11 tackles and a stuff.
Omaha Bulls ( 1-0 )- 28 Michigan Panthers ( 0-1 )- 16
Omaha, Nebraska: Rakeem Cato completed 11 of 15 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown as the Omaha Bulls defeated the Michigan Panthers 28 - 16.
Trent Richardson rushed for 79 yards and a score. Alfred Blue ran 12 times for 54 yards and a touchdown. Da'Ron Brown caught 3 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in the win. Brandon Boykin led the defense with 10 tackles, 1 pass deflection and a forced fumble.
Cody Kessler completed 18 of 34 passes for 179 yards. John Roberson threw a touchdown pass while completing 3 of 5 passes for 47 yards. Paul Perkins ran for 73 yards. Nick Harwell had a touchdown reception catching 3 passes for 47 yards. Pharoh Cooper had 5 receptions for 58 yards in the loss for the Panthers.
San Antonio Mustangs ( 1-0 )- 31 Albuquerque Aztecs ( 0-1 )- 13
Albuquerque, New Mexico: Marshaun Coprich ran 23 times for 131 yards and a touchdown to lead the San Antonio Mustangs to a 31-13 rout of the Albuquerque Aztecs.
Bryn Renner completed 12 of 17 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. Jack Doyle had a touchdown reception while catching 3 passes for 92 yards. Ben Heeney led the Mustangs defense with 7 tackles, 1 stuff, 1 hurry and a forced fumble.
Travis Lulay led the Aztecs completing 16 of 25 passes for 184 yards. Tim Cornett ran for 52 yards and a touchdown. Ray Graham ran 10 times for 42 yards and a score. Rashad Green had 5 receptions for 91 yards in the loss. Avery Williams had 9 tackles and a stuff to lead the Aztecs defense.
Columbus Aviators ( 1-0 )- 34 Arkansas Rhinos ( 0-1 )- 17
Little Rock, Arkansas: Everett Golson completed 12 of 17 passes for 238 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Columbus Aviators crushed the Arkansas Rhinos 34-17 at War Memorial Stadium Sunday evening.
Eric Brietenstein rushed for 138 yards and a score. Mycole Pruitt caught 3 passes for 71 yards. Jared Abbrederis, Andrew Turzilli and Austin Franklin each had a touchdown reception in the win for the Aviators. Phillip Stewart led the defense with 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass deflection and a stuff.
Arkansas quarterback Colby Cameron threw for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns, while completing 19 of 32 passes.
Brandon Rutley ran 10 times for 71 yards. Mike Davis had 4 receptions for 51 yards and a score. Alex Bayer also had a touchdown reception in the loss for the Rhinos. Trey DePriest led the defense with 10 tackles and 3 stuffs in the loss.
Chicago Stags ( 1-0 )- 24 St. Louis Scouts ( 0-1 )- 17
Chicago, Illinois: Brandon Doughty threw for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Chicago Stags defeated the St. Louis Scouts 24-17 before 22,000 at Soldier Field Sunday night. Doughty completed 12 of 22 passes.
Marcus Murphy ran for 127 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Roger Lewis had 4 receptions for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns. Troy Hill led the defense with 10 tackles, 2 pass defended and a forced fumble in the win.
Robert Griffin III made his AFFA debut, completing 22 of 31 passes for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns. Zack Laskey ran 15 times for 61 yards and Robbie Rouse ran 13 times for 55 yards. EJ Bibbs had 7 receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown. Roddy White had 5 receptions for 69 yards and a score in the loss. John Timu recorded 10 tackles and 2 stuffs to lead the defense.
The loss also spoiled the pro coaching debut of former LSU head coach Les Miles.
Late Game:
Portland Pioneers defeated the Sacramento Crusaders 19-7.
