WEEK SEVENTEEN: SUNDAY RESULTS


(10-6) Baltimore- 31   (7-9) Philadelphia- 28

Baltimore, MD:  Keith Wenning completed 22 of 28 passes for 366 yards and 3 touchdowns, with 1 interception as the Baltimore Bombers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 31-28 victory over the Philadelphia Stars.

Curtis McNeal ran for 81 yards on 17 carries. Matthew Tucker ran for a score while rushing for 64 yards on 12 carries.  Tony Scheffler caught 8 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown. Nik Lewis had 6 receptions for 123 yards. Patrick Edwards had 2 touchdown receptions, while catching 2 passes for 85 yards in the win.

Tajh Boyd completed 12 of 19 passes for only 96 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception. Robbie Rouse ran 14 times for 57 yards. Terrance Edwards had 3 catches for 29 yards and a score. Eddie Pleasant recorded a 42 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown and Walter Stewart had a 54 yard fumble recovery for a score in the loss for the Stars.

(8-8) Dallas- 27    (4-12) Denver- 19

Dallas, Tx;  Quentin Sims caught 5 passes for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns (63,58) as the Dallas Wranglers kept their slim playoff hopes alive, defeating the Denver Miners 27-19 at the Cotton Bowl Sunday.

Tim Tebow threw for 341 yards and 3 touchdowns, while completing 15 of 28 passes and 1 interception. He was sacked 3 times. Tyler Varga had 18 carries for 111 yards. George Winn ran for a score. Jordan Tripp recorded 2 interceptions for the Wranglers.

Chase Clement completed 13 of 21 passes for 133 yards and 1 touchdown. Matthew McGloin came in relief in the second half, completing 5 of 11 passes for 78 yards and 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Travis Harvey had 5 receptions for 100 yards. Cole McKenzie had 2 touchdown receptions in the loss for Denver.

(6-10) Omaha- 31   (9-7) Birmingham- 28

Omaha, NB;  Drew Willy tossed 3 touchdown passes while throwing for 366 yards as the Omaha Express defeated the slipping Birmingham Barracudas 31-28 at TD Ameritrade Park Sunday.

Willy completed 29 of 47 passes, with 1 interception and sacked three times. Brandon Kaufman caught 7 passes for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. Roy Roundtree had 8 catches for 100 yards. Latavius Murray had 11 carries for 85 yards and a score in the win for Omaha. Marcus Sales also had a touchdown reception.

Greg McElroy completed 22 of 34 passes for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns, with 2 sacks for the Barracudas. Nate Kimic ran for 41 yards and 1 touchdown on 10 carries. Mike Sims caught 3 passes for 111 yards including a 57 yard touchdown reception. Josh Stewart had a 85 yard punt return and Chris Obonnaya a touchdown catch in the loss.

(7-8-1) Michigan- 40    (7-9) Memphis- 13

Detroit, Mich:  Aaron Murray threw for 312 yards and 5 touchdowns in leading the Michigan Panthers to a 40-13 victory over the Memphis Hound Dogs , before 25,000 at Ford Field.

Murray finished completing 23 of 26 passes, with 1 interception and a sack. Kyle Miller had seven catches for 72 yards and 3 touchdowns. Andy Tanner caught 4 passes for 91 yards and 1 touchdown. Mike Hoomanawanui also had a touchdown reception in the Panthers win. Khiry Robinson ran for 138 yards on 20 carries.

Ricky Ray threw for 149 yards, with 1 interception and a sack, while completing 15 of 33 passes. He also ran for a score to lead the Hound Dogs. Javon Ringer ran 12 times for 72 yards and Austin Collie had 6 catches for 72 yards as Memphis drops to 7-9 on the season.

(10-6) Carolina- 27    (6-10) San Antonio- 23

San Antonio, Tx;  Alterraun Verner recorded 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 deflection, a forced fumble and an interception to lead the Carolina Swarm past the San Antonio Gunslingers 27-23 at the Alamodome Sunday.

Jimmy Clausen completed 13 of 14 passes for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns with 2 sacks. Dallas Clark had 6 receptions for 72 yards. Devin Street and Onterio McCalebb each had touchdown receptions. Tyler Gaffney ran 15 times for only 37 yards in the win.

Mike Reilly threw for 299 yards and a touchdown, with 1 sack and 2 interceptions. He completed 29 of 46 passes. Nicholas Edwards had 6 catches for 76 yards and DJ Harper had a touchdown reception. Lennon Career contributed with a touchdown run for the Gunslingers.

The loss by the Gunslingers gives Houston the Frontier Division title and eliminates the Gunslingers from playoff contention.

(12-4) Portland- 34    (5-11) Arizona- 13

Glendale, Az:  Brian Brohm completed 17 of 27 passes for 295 yards and 3 touchdowns and sacked once, to lead the playoff bound Portland Dragons to a 34-13 victory over the Arizona Scorpions Sunday night before 21,211 at University of Phoenix Stadium .

Mychal Rivera had 5 receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown. Jasper Collins had 4 catches for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns. Chris Polk ran 14 times for 83 yards and Silas Redd ran 9 times for 66 yards and a score as the Dragons improve to a league best 12-4 mark.

Vince Young led the Scorpions, throwing for 288 yards and 1 touchdown with 2 interceptions and sacked once. Young completed 21 of 41 passes on the night. Michael Hill had 91 yards on 18 carries, plus 4 receptions for 49 yards. Andrew Quarles caught 4 passes for 70 yards and Dominic Rhodes had a touchdown reception as the Scorpions fall to 5-11 on the season.


Late Games:  (10-6) Sacramento- 17    (5-11) Las Vegas- 13
Ryan Nassib threw for 240 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win for Sacramento.
