A.F.F.A WEEK THIRTEEN SATURDAY RESULTS
( 4-8 ) Philadelphia Freedom- 24 ( 5-8 ) New York Empire- 23
New York, New York: Drew Willy threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns as the Philadelphia Freedom defeated the New York Empire 24-23 at MCU Park in New York Saturday afternoon.
Willy completed 16 of 26 passes with 1 interception. Kory Sheets ran 13 times for 84 yards. Duke Williams had 5 receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. Fred Stamps caught 3 passes for 91 yards, including a 64 yard touchdown catch. Zane Gonzalez converted on 3 of 3 field goal attempts with a long of 52 yards. Danny Trevathan recorded 7 tackles, 2 stuffs and 2 forced fumbles. Andrew Hudson and Phillip Hunt each had a sack as the Freedom improved to 5-8.
John Manziel completed 22 of 34 passes for 259 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was sacked twice and rushed for 37 yards on 8 carries for New York. Ray Graham ran 16 times for 60 yards. Nick O'Leary had 6 catches for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns. Aaron Burbridge caught 4 passes for 75 yards. Knile Davis had 4 receptions for 39 yards and a score. Jake Ganus recorded 9 tackles. Sharif Finch had a sack as the Empire fall to 5-8.
( 6-7 ) Columbus Aviators- 13 ( 5-8 ) Michigan Panthers- 12
Columbus, Ohio: Chuckie Keeton completed 21 of 32 passes for 255 yards and sacked 3 times as the Columbus Aviators slipped by the Michigan Panthers 13-12 at Mapfre Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Eric Breitenstein ran for 67 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Mycole Pruitt had 10 receptions for 106 yards. Austin Franklin caught 5 passes for 81 yards. Jared Abbrederis caught 5 passes for 61 yards. Deion Blue led the defense with 7 tackles.
Michigan quarterback Cody Kessler threw for 106 yards and a touchdown on 13 of 24 passing. Paul Perkins ran 11 times for 66 yards. Pharoh Cooper had 3 catches for 33 yards and a touchdown. Ted Laurentiis led the defense with 10 tackles, 1 sack, 1 hurry and a forced fumble. Will Compton and Jermauria Rasco each recorded a sack in the loss.
( 8-5 ) Miami Sharks- 27 ( 4-9 ) Orlando Vipers- 24
Miami, Florida: Tajae Sharp caught 12 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown as the Miami Sharks moved to 8-5 with a 27-24 victory over the Orlando Vipers Saturday at FIU Stadium Saturday.
Zach Collaros completed 17 of 26 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown with 1 interception. Brad Kaaya completed 9 of 18 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. David Cobb ran 14 times for 96 yards. Andy Janovich rushed for 50 yards and a score on 5 carries. Ezell Ruffin caught 7 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. Zach Vigil had 8 tackles and 2 stuffs. Joe Vellano and Winston Guy each recorded a sack. Jonathon Mincy recorded 6 tackles and a interception.
Matt Barkley threw for 261 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception and sacked twice. Jahad Thomas rushed for 74 yards on 16 carries. Joey Isoefa ran for a score while rushing for 17 yards on 11 carries. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu led the Vipers defense with 9 tackles. Quinton Demps had 8 tackles, 1 pass deflection and a stuff in the loss.
( 10-3 ) Louisville Thoroughbreds- 45 ( 5-8 ) Carolina Breakers- 31
Raleigh, N.C: Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 441 yards and 4 touchdowns with as the Louisville Thoroughbreds topped the Carolina Breakers 45-31 at Carter Finley Stadium Saturday.
Mitchell finished completing 25 of 37 passing and was sacked 4 times. Corey Grant ran 5 times for 105 yards. Ray Rice ran 12 times for 52 yards and two touchdowns, plus caught 4 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. Ryan Spadola had 7 receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. Josh Stewart caught 8 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. Cameron Meredith caught 4 passes for 77 yards and a score. AJ Johnson had 6 tackles, a sack and a hurry. Ishmaa'lly Kitchen had a sack to go along with 4 tackles, 1 stuff and 3 hurries. Joe Sykes and Cedric Reed also recorded a sack.
Nic Shimonek completed 18 of 24 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked 4 times. Zach Zenner ran 19 times for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns. Joique Bell ran for a touchdown while rushing for 62 yards on 7 carries. Luke Tasker had 5 receptions for 116 yards and a score. Dustin Keller caught 5 passes for 66 yards for the Breakers. Corey James had 6 tackles and 2 sacks, while Thomas Keiser had 5 tackles and two sacks for the Breakers defense.
( 6-7 ) San Antonio Cimarrons- 28 ( 7-5 ) Oklahoma Gunslingers- 27
San Antonio, Texas: Kenneth Farrow ran in from four yards out with 1:18 remaining, to lift the San Antonio Cimarrons to a 28-27 victory over the Oklahoma Gunslingers before 26,111 at the Alamo Dome.
Tajh Boyd completed 24 of 33 passes for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked twice. He also ran 14 times for 34 yards and a score. De'Anthony Thomas rushed for 65 yards on 9 carries. Kenneth Farrow finished with 15 yards and a touchdown on 7 carries. Jamaal Jones caught 9 passes for 95 yards. Jack Doyle had 3 receptions for 83 yards. Kadeem Carey caught 5 passes for 37 yards and a touchdown. Adarius Bowman had a touchdown reception, catching 2 passes for 17 yards.
James Rouse led the Cimarrons defense with 6 tackles, 2 sacks and a stuff. Josh Wilson also had a sack, while recording 4 tackles.
Oklahoma quarterback Matt Johnson completed 21 of 31 passes for 291 yards and 2 touchdowns with 3 sacks. Cyrus Gray ran 10 times for 67 yards. Rajon Neal had a touchdown run, while rushing for 20 yards on 10 carries. Chris Matthews caught 6 passes for 111 yards. Josh Harper caught 6 passes for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Clevan Thomas led the Oklahoma defense with 9 tackles and a pass deflection. Jamaal West and Vincent Taylor each had a sack in the loss.
( 9-4 ) Sacramento Crusaders- 38 ( 7-5 ) Los Angeles Pharoahs- 35
Carson, California: Trevone Boykin threw for one touchdown and ran for two more in leading the Sacramento Crusaders to a 38-35 win over the Los Angeles Pharoahs in a battle of Pacific Division leaders Saturday night.
Boykin completed 18 of 25 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown with 2 sacks. He also ran 16 times for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns. Stevan Ridley rushed for 24 yards on 15 carries while also scoring 2 touchdowns. Austin Hill had 8 receptions for 158 yards and a score. DeMarco Sampson had 6 catches for 79 yards. Jason Trusnik recorded 8 tackles to power the defense. Zack Bowman and Charleston Hughes each recorded a sack as the Crusaders moved to 9-4.
Jeff Driskel led the Pharoahs, passing for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns while completing 18 of 34 passing. He was sacked once. Arvell Nelson came in late, completing 1 of 4 passes for 29 yards and a touchdown. He too was sacked once.
Jay Ajayi ran 11 times for 74 yards, plus caught 4 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. Josh Ferguson caught 7 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Payton had 5 receptions for 67 yards and a score. Mario Alford had a 43 yard touchdown reception and Isaiah Ford had a 50 yard touchdown catch.
Eddie Moten had 8 tackles. Zach Wagemann and Solomon Elimenin had a sack apiece in the loss for Los Angeles who fall to 7-5.
