A.F.F.A WEEK TWELVE FRIDAY NIGHT RESULT
( 7-4 ) Los Angeles Pharoahs- 31 ( 2-9 ) Portland Pioneers- 12
Portland, Oregon: Jeff Driskel completed 17 of 31 passing for 231 yards and three touchdowns as the Los Angeles Pharoahs moved into a tie for first place in the Pacific Division with a resounding 31-12 beatdown of the Portland Pioneers Friday night at Providence Park in Portland.
With 5:44 remaining in the opening quarter, Jeff Driskel hit Mario Alford for a six yard touchdown pass. The extra point gave the Pharoahs a 7-0 lead. The Pharoahs made it 14-0 early in the second quarter as Driskel once again found Mario Alford, this time from 14 yards out. With 6:32 remaining in the second quarter, Caleb Sturgis made it 17-0 with a 34 yard field goal. Shortly thereafter, Jeff Driskel threw his third touchdown of the first half, this time connecting with Jay Ajayi from 17 yards out giving the Pharoahs a 24-0 lead. Portland finally got on the board with forty seconds remaining in the half as John Lunsford connected on a 37 yard field goal, making the score Pharoahs- 24 Pioneers- 3 at the end of the first half.
Los Angeles made it 31-3 early in the third as Jay Ajayi scored on a ten yard touchdown run. The Pioneers made it 31-6 as John Lunsford kicked a 33 yard field with 3:06 remaining in the third. With 3:51 remaining in the contest, Bryan Bennett tossed a 1 yard touchdown pass to Matt Dayes. The two point conversion failed, making the final score Pharoahs- 31 Portland- 12.
Jay Ajayi finished with 13 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown, plus had a touchdown reception. Josh Ferguson ran 10 times for 30 yards, plus caught 7 passes for 78 yards. Jordan Payton had 5 catches for 88 yards and Mario Alford caught 3 passes for 36 yards and 2 touchdowns for L.A. in the win. Travis Long led the defense with 9 tackles and a sack. Jeremiah Ledbetter and Chris Randle also recorded a sack.
For Portland, Bryan Bennett completed 23 of 39 passing for 208 yards and a touchdown. He threw two interceptions and was sacked three times . He also led the Pioneers in rushing with 70 yards on 13 carries. Ahmad Bradshaw ran 7 times for 52 yards, plus caught 10 passes for 65 yards. Geremy Davis had 5 receptions for 65 yards and Matt Dayes had a touchdown reception. James Onwualu led the defense with 7 tackles and 3 stuffs as the Pioneers fall to 2-9.
