Week Eight Sunday Wrap-UP


( 5-3 ) Oklahoma - 29    ( 4-4 ) New York - 7

Brooklyn, Ny;  Matt Johnson threw for 467 yards and 3 touchdowns in leading the Oklahoma Roughnecks to a 29-7 win over the New York Emporers Sunday afternoon at MCU Park in Brooklyn.

Johnson completed 30 of 43 passes and was sacked twice. Rajon Neal ran 14 times for 39 yards.  Chandler Jones had 8 receptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Harper caught 6 passes for 89 yards and a score in the win for the Roughnecks who move to 5-3.

New York quarterback Johnny Manziel completed 15 of 24 passes for 140 yards and was sacked twice.  Lamar Miller ran for 50 yards and a score on 13 carries as the Emporers fall to 4-4.

Joplo Bartu led the Roughnecks defense with 7 tackles and a sack.

( 5-2 ) Denver - 24    ( 2-6 ) Carolina - 14

Raleigh, N.C;   Anthony Allen ran for 156 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries as the Denver Miners ran by the Carolina Swarm 24-14 before 22,000 at Carter Finley Stadium Sunday.

Vad Lee completed 20 of 33 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown with one interception and sacked twice. Kasen Williams caught 6 passes for 63 yards. Taj Smith had 4 catches for 37 yards and a score.  Kyshoen Jarrett returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown as the Miners improved to 5-2.

Shane Carder completed 15 of 37 passes for 161 yards and a score. He was sacked once. Joique Bell ran for a score and Dom Williams had a touchdown reception in the loss for the Miners who fall to 2-6. Taylor Reed recorded 12 tackles for the Swarm defense.

( 5-2 ) Chicago - 29    ( 3-5 ) Miami - 24

Chicago, Illinois;  Brandon Doughty completed 22 of 38 passes for 328 yards and 2 touchdowns with 2 sacks as the Chicago Stags defeated the falling Miami Sharks 29-24 at Soldier Field.

Marcus Murphy ran 20 times for 80 yards. Willie Snead had 8 receptions for 83 yards and a score Roger Lewis caught 6 passes for 142 yards and a score. Nick Pertuit went 5 for 5 on field goals.

Running back David Cobb lead Miami rushing for 153 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries. Zach Collaros completed 12 of 25 passes for 130 yards with one interception as the Sharks drop their fifth straight.

( 6-2 ) Dallas - 27   ( 1-7 ) Sacramento - 13

Dallas, Tx;  Mike Reilly threw for 250 yards with one interception and sacked twice, plus ran for a score  in leading the Dallas Outlaws to a 27-13 victory over the Sacramento Crusaders before a near capacity crowd at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

Ben Tate ran 10 times for 42 yards and a score. Josh Norman recorded a 29 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown along with 7 tackles and a pass deflection. Wes Saxton had 6 receptions for 65 yards.

Erik Meyer completed 14 of 27 passes for 140 yards and sacked twice for Sacramento.  Vic Ballard ran for 81 yards and a score on 16 carries. Terron Ward had 10 carries for 51 yards. Austin Hill caught 7 passes for 92 yards in the loss.

( 5-3 ) Pittsburgh - 38   ( 2-6 ) Columbus - 27

Columbus, Ohio;  Alex Carder completed 25 of 33 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns in leading the Pittsburgh Forge to a 38-27 victory over the Columbus Explorers at Mapfre Stadium Sunday.

Tyler Gaffney ran for one touchdown while rushing for 60 yards on 18 carries . Luke Wilson caught 9 passes for 160 yards and a score. Clarence Denmark had 2 touchdown receptions, catching 3 passes for 49 yards.

Terrell Pryor threw for 347 yards and 3 touchdowns with 2 sacks in leading Columbus. He also ran 10 times for 30 yards. Andrew Turzilli caught 5 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns including an 80 yarder. Conner Vernon also had a touchdown reception.

( 8-0 ) Louisville - 27   ( 2-6) Arizona - 7

Louisville, Ky;  Shiloh Keo had a 16 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown and Ray Rice ran for 86 yards and a score on 17 carries as the Louisville Thoroughbreds continue their March to perfection with a 27-7 victory over the Arizona Scorpions.

Ben Malena ran 10 times for 68 yards and a score. Jordan Taylor had 4 catches for 50 yards and a score Bo Levi Mitchell completed 16 of 27 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown as the Thoroughbreds remained unbeaten at 8-0.

Travis Lulay led the Scorpions throwing for 172 yards and a score on 21 of 39 passes with 2 interceptions.  Tim Cornett ran 10 times for 67 yards and Alex Erickson had a touchdown reception. Avery Williams led the Scorpions defense with 10 tackles and 1 stuff.

( 3-5)  Portland - 33    ( 3-5) Memphis - 29

Portland, Oregon;  Wendell Smallwood ran for 134 yards and a score on 20 carries and Miguel Maysonnet ran for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns on 14 carries to lift the Portland Pioneers to a 33-29 victory over the Memphis Knights before a crowd of 16,100 at Providence Park Sunday night.

AJ McCarron completed 19 of 28 passes for 246 yards and a score. He was sacked once.  Allen Hurns caught 5 passes for 121 yards. Austin Pettis had 5 receptions for 36 yards and a score as the Pioneers improved to 3-5.

Ricky Ray completed 12 of 30 passes for 149 yards. Cameron Artis Payne ran 15 times for 65 yards and two touchdowns.  Austin Collie caught 5 passes for 58 yards, plus had a 23 yard touchdown run to lead the Knights.  Alani Fua recorded 10 tackles and a stuff to lead the Knights defense.
