A.F.F.A WEEK 10 SATURDAY WRAP UP



( 6-4 ) New York- 25      ( 4-6 ) Omaha- 17

Omaha, Nebraska;  Johnny Manziel completed 11 of 18 passes for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns as the New York Emporers knocked off the Omaha Bulls 25-17 at TD Ameritrade Park Saturday afternoon.

Lamar Miller ran for 88 yards on 21 carries. Geromino Allison had 3 receptions for 37 yards and one touchdown. Chris Boyd also had a touchdown reception in the win. Chris Milo went 4 for 4 on field goal attempts with a long of 40 yards.

Omaha quarterback Rakeem Kato threw for 297 yards and one touchdown. He threw three interceptions and was sacked once, while completing 20 of 31 passes.

Tra Carson ran 14 times for 66 yards and a score. Mike Thomas caught 6 passes for 88 yards and one touchdown. Fred Davis had 6 receptions for 93 yards in the loss for the Bulls.

( 7-3 ) New Orleans- 31     ( 3-7 ) Miami- 26

New Orleans, La:   Brandon Rutley ran for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns on 6 carries, plus had 3 receptions for 93 yards and a score, to guide the New Orleans Nightmare to a 31-26 victory over the Miami Sharks before a near capacity crowd at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans.

Nightmare quarterback Colby Cameron completed 16 of 36 passes for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns as chants of "MVP" could be heard sporadically throughout the fourth quarter. Cody Hoffman had 4 receptions for 57 yards and a score. Trey DePriest led the defense with 10 tackles.

The Sharks who lost for the seventh consecutive time, was led by quarterback Zach Colloras who completed 37 of 50 passes for 357 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked 4 times.

David Cobb ran 18 times for 88 yards. Johnathan Gray ran for a score while rushing 11 times for 19 yards. Tajae Sharp caught 11 passes for 119 yards. Deon Long and Jeff Heuerman each had a touchdown reception.

( 6-4 ) Oklahoma- 37     ( 5-5 ) Birmingham- 31

Birmingham, Alabama;  Oklahoma quarterback Matt Johnson continues to make his claim for league MVP.  Johnson threw for 397 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the Roughnecks to a 37-31 victory over the Birmingham Predators.

Johnson completed 31 of 43 passes and was sacked twice. Chandler Jones caught 9 passes for 141 yards and a score. Chris Gragg had 6 catches for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. Mike Campanaro also had a touchdown reception. Jopolo Bartu led the defense with 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass defended, 1 stuff and 2 hurries.

Birmingham quarterback Trevor Harris completed 18 of 38 passes for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was sacked twice.  Rex Burk head ran 21 times for 79 yards. Nathan Slaughter had 6 receptions for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns. Casey Pierce also had a touchdown reception. Jahleel Addison led the defense with 6 tackles, 2 pass deflections, 1 stuff and 1 hurry.

( 4-6 ) Memphis- 35    ( 2-8 ) Arizona- 21

Glendale, Arizona:  Ricky Ray threw for 272 yards and one touchdown, while completing 19 of 31 passes as the Memphis Knights topped the Arizona Scorpions 35-21.

Cameron Artis-Payne and Zach Line each ran for a touchdown. Austin Collie had 7 receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown. Harlan Miller led the defense with 11 tackles and 3 pass deflections. Bobby McCain recorded 10 tackles with 2 pass deflections.

Travis Lulay threw for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns ,while completing 24 of 41 passes. He threw 2 interceptions and was sacked twice. Tim Cornett ran for 63 yards and a score on 19 carries. Rashad Greene had 8 receptions for 138 yards and a score. Tommy Shuler also had a touchdown run in the loss for the Scorpions. Geno Hayes led the Scorpions defense with 8 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 stuffs and 1 hurry.


( 2-8 ) Sacramento- 20    ( 5-4 ) Michigan- 16

Sacramento, California:  Trevon Boykin made his A.F.F.A. debut Saturday night, leading the Sacramento Crusaders to a 20-16 upset of the Michigan Panthers before 19,000 happy fans at Hughes Stadium.

Boykin completed 19 of 28 passes for 294 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked three times. Steven Ridley ran 19 times for 121 yards and a score. Austin Hill caught 5 passes for 139 yards. Colt Lyerla had 3 catches for 43 yards and a score for the Crusaders in the win.

Michigan quarterback Cody Kessler completed 15 of 28 passes for 155 yards with 1 interception. Andre Ellington ran 15 times for 64 yards , plus 5 receptions for 47 yards . Malcom Agnew had a touchdown run. Jaden Oberkman was 3 for 3 in field goals with a long of 46 yards in the loss.
