WEEK SEVEN SATURDAY WRAP-UP!
( 7-0 ) Louisville - 33 ( 4-3 ) Pittsburgh - 31
Pittsburgh, Pa; Ray Rice ran for 158 yards on 31 carries and a score as the Louisville Thoroughbreds remained unbeaten with a 33-31 victory over the Pittsburgh Forge at Heinz field Saturday afternoon.
Ben Malena ran 16 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Bo Levi Mitchell completed 18 of 31 passes for 322 yards. Cameron Meredith had 6 receptions for 126 yards as the Thoroughbreds rushing to 7-0 on the year.
Pittsburgh quarterback Alex Carder threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns and sacked three times. Tyler Gaffney ran 7 times for 39 yards and a score. Jordan Williams caught 7 passes for 68 yards and a score. Anquan Boldin also had a touchdown reception for the Forge ( 4-3 ).
( 4-3 ) Washington - 35 ( 4-3 ) New York - 14
Washington, D.C. ; Mike Bercovici threw for 321 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Washington Wave to a 35-14 victory over the New York Emporers Saturday afternoon. He was sacked twice.
Tommy Taggart ran 11 times for 28 yards. Chad Owens caught 7 passes for 118 yards and a score. Donatella Luckett had 5 receptions for 96 yards. Nick Boyle recorded 2 touchdown receptions for the Wave ( 4-3 ).
Johnny Manziel completed 15 of 28 passes for 148 yards and was sacked 3 times, plus ran 5 times for 51 yards and a score. Lamar Miller ran for 48 yards and a score for the Emporers who fell to 4-3.
( 3-4 ) Memphis - 19 ( 4-3 ) Oklahoma - 6
Memphis, Tenn; Ricky Ray tossed a 7 yard touchdown pass to A.C. Leonard as the Memphis Knights upended the Oklahoma Roughnecks 19-6 before 27,000 + at the Liberty Bowl Saturday.
Ray completed 22 of 38 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown. Cameron Artis Payne ran 19 times for 101 yards. Austin Collie had 8 receptions for 85 yards. A.C. Leonard caught 4 passes for 54 yards and a score. Shayne Graham went 4 for 4 on field goals with a long of 40 yards.
Matt Johnson led Oklahoma throwing for 239 yards on 19 of 36 passes to lead the Roughnecks. Rajon Neal ran for 47 yards on 7 carries and Chris Moore had 5 receptions for 82 yards in the loss.
( 4-3 ) Birmingham - 45 ( 2-5 ) Portland - 28
Birmingham, Alabama; Trevor Harris threw for 281 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Birmingham Predators crushed the Portland Pioneers 45-28 . Harris finished completing 18 of 30 passes with 1 interception and sacked once.
Rex Burkhead ran 29 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Rashard Higgins caught 4 passes for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns including an 86 yarder. Casey Pierce had 4 receptions for 48 yards and two touchdowns as well for the Predators ( 4-3 ).
A.J. McCarron threw for 229 yards and a score while completing 15 of 31 passes with 3 sacks. Wendell Smallwood ran 17 times for 83 yards and a score. Miguel Maysonnet was held to 8 carries for 45 yards and a score. Allen Hurns had 3 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown in the loss for the Pioneers ( 2-5 ).
