AFFA SUNDAY (4-22-18) RESULTS
(4-5) Virginia Tritons - 20 (4-5) Los Angeles Pharaohs - 9
Norfolk, Virginia; Mike Bercovici hit Chad Owens for a touchdown in the second quarter that sparked the Virginia Tritons to a 20-9 victory over the Los Angeles Pharaohs at Dick Price Stadium Sunday .
Bercovici completed 27 of 42 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown . He was intercepted once and sacked three times. Chris Hairston ran 9 times for 50 yards . Chad Owens caught 5 passes for 58 yards and a score . Nick Boyle had 7 receptions for 71 yards . Darrin Walls had a 46 yard interception return for a touchdown in the win. Walls finished with 7 tackles , 1 pass deflection and an interception to lead the defense.
Quarterback Jeff Driskell led the Pharaohs , completing 20 of 50 passes for 203 yards ,with one interception. He was sacked twice. Caleb Sturgis went 3 for 5 on field goal attempts .
(6-3) Pittsburgh Ironmen - 30 (2-7) Philadelphia Americans - 23
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Alex Carder threw for 320 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Pittsburgh Ironmen to a 30-23 victory over their in state division rival Philadelphia Americans at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh .
Tyler Gaffney ran 15 times for 65 yards and a score. Alec Lemon caught 16 passes for 138 yards and a score. Eric Rogers caught 5 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown as the Ironmen moved to 6-3. Swayze Waters went 3 for 3 on field goal attempts.
Alex Tanney threw for only 77 yards, while completing 9 of 17 passes . John Crockett ran for 2 touchdowns while rushing for 118 yards on 25 carries. Brandon Whitaker ran 9 times for 96 yards. Rod Streater had 4 receptions for 38 yards and a score. The Americans fall to 2-7.
(4-5) Birmingham Barbarians - 31 (7-2) St. Louis Scouts - 20
Birmingham, Alabama; Rex Burkhead ran for 177 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries as the Birmingham Barbarians stun the St. Louis Scouts 31-20 for their second straight win at Legion Field Sunday .
Trevor Harris completed 18 of 22 passes for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns. Casey caught 7 passes for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns . Jakeem Grant had 4 receptions for 77 yards and a score. Marcus Robertson led the defense with 10 tackles .
The Scouts who saw their 7 game win streak snapped was led by Robert Griffin III who completed 17 of 29 passes for 186 yards, with one interception and sacked twice. He also ran 7 times for 54 yards and a score. Robbie Rouse ran 7 times for 71 yards. Zack Laskey ran 7 times for 30 yards and a score. Kenbrell Tompkins had 10 catches for 116 yards in the loss.
(3-6) Omaha Bulls - 16 (0-9) Utah Mammoths - 12
Omaha , Nebraska; Rakeem Cato threw for 244 yards and a touchdown, while completing 13 of 23 passes as the Omaha Bulls defeated the Utah Mammoths 16-12 at T.D. Ameritrade Park.
Trent Richardson rushed for 63 yards on 16 carries , plus 3 catches for 49 yards . Fred Davis caught 5 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown . Brett Maher connected on 3 of 4 field goal attempts .
Garrett Grayson started for the Mammoths over Dak Prescott in a game time decision. Grayson completed 11 of 18 passes for 158 yards . Devontae Booker ran 22 times for 91 yards as the Mammoths remain winless at 0-9. Josiah Yazdani hit on 4 of 4 field goal attempts .
(6-3) Sacramento Crusaders - 39 (3-6) Michigan Panthers - 27
Sacramento, California ; Trevone Boykin completed 20 of 33 passes for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns, plus ran 18 times for 71 yards as the Sacramento Crusaders defeated the Michigan Panthers 39-27 Sunday night.
Stevan Ridley ran 16 times for 58 yards and 2 touchdowns . Kenny Still caught 6 passes for 81 yards and a score . Austin Hill caught 5 passes for 51 yards and a score . Colt Lyerla had 2 catches for 19 yards and a touchdown .
Michigan quarterback Cody Kessler threw for 206 yards while completing 23 of 36 passes. John Roberson came in late completing 3 of 3 passes for 54 yards and a score . Paul Perkins ran for a score while rushing for 26 yards on 9 carries. Nick Harwell had a touchdown reception, catching 3 passes for for 54 yards , plus a 73 yard punt return for a touchdown .
