SUNDAY RESULTS (4-15-18)
( 2-6) Philadelphia Americans - 27 (3-5) Virginia Tritons - 10
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Ty Hilton returned a punt 69 yards for a touchdown, sparking the Philadelphia Americans to a 27-10 victory over the Virginia Tritons Sunday at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia.
Brandon Whitaker ran 22 times for 101 yards. Alex Tanney stepped in for Drew Willy, completing 6 of 14 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. He threw one interception and was sacked three times. Ryan McDaniel had a touchdown reception, catching 2 passes for 35 yards.
Virginia was led by Mike Bercovici who threw for 255 yards and a touchdown, with one interception. He completed 23 of 38 passes and was sacked 6 times. Donovan Morgan had 6 receptions for 135 yards and a score for the Tritons.
(3-5) Birmingham Barbarians - 27 (5-3) Memphis Hound Dogs - 0
Memphis, Tennessee; Trevor Harris completed 19 of 24 passes for 219 yards and a score as the Birmingham Barbarians stun a capacity Liberty Bowl crowd with a 27-0 shut out victory over the Memphis Hound Dogs.
Rex Burkhead ran for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns. Casey Pierce caught 6 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown as Birmingham moves to 3-5 on the year.
Memphis quarterback Ricky Ray threw for 197 yards on 16 of 33 passes. He was intercepted once. Neal Sterling caught 5 passes for 80 yards as Memphis falls to 5-3.
(2-6) Hartford Sentinels - 27 (4-4) Carolina Breakers - 24 (OT)
Raleigh, N.C; Connor Halliday completed 26 of 40 passes for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns in leading the Hartford Sentinels to a 27-24 overtime victory over the Carolina Breakers at Carter Finley Stadium Sunday.
Devon Johnson ran for 78 yards and a score. Julian Edelman caught 6 passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Jordan had 4 receptions for 49 yards and a score. Jamal Robinson caught 5 passes for 86 yards in the win. Boris Bede kicked the game winning field goals with 5:41 remaining in overtime.
Shane Carden led the Breakers throwing for 327 yards and a score, while completing 28 of 41 passes. Tony Lippett had 6 receptions for 96 yards. Luke Tasker caught 3 passes for 36 yards and a score. Zach Zenner had 50 yards rushing and a touchdown on 6 carries. Jacqiuzz Rodgers ran 9 times for 26 yards and a score for the Breakers.
(3-5) Columbus Aviators - 27 (3-5) Michigan Panthers - 13
Detroit, Michigan; Chuckie Keeton tossed two fourth quarter touchdowns to Austin Franklin to lift the Columbus Aviators past the Michigan Panthers at Ford Field Sunday evening.
Keeton finished completing 18 of 24 passes for 280 yards and 3 touchdowns. He threw one interception. He also ran 10 times for 61 yards. Eric Brietenstein had 68 yards rushing on 18 carries. Austin Franklin had 6 receptions for 158 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Cody Kessler threw for 220 yards and a score, while completing 16 of 24 passes. He was sacked 4 times. Paul Perkins ran for 56 yards on 12 carries. Pharoh Cooper had 3 catches for 107 yards and a score to pace the Panthers.
(4-4) Albuquerque Aztecs - 27 (6-2) Houston Wranglers - 20
Albuquerque, New Mexico; Travis Lulay completed 26 of 35 passes for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Albuquerque Aztecs swept the season series with the Houston Wranglers, with a 27-20 upset victory.
Rashad Green had 5 catches for 45 yards and 2 scores. Brian Parker had a touchdown reception, catching 3 passes for 79 yards. David Fluellen ran 17 times for 65 yards. Tommy Shuler caught 8 passes for 95 yards in the win.
Blake Sims threw for 280 yards while completing 22 of 41 passes. He threw 2 interceptions and sacked once. Kapri Bibbs ran 12 times for 39 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jeremiah Johnson caught 10 passes for 126 yards for the Wranglers.
(5-3) Portland Pioneers - 17 (3-5) Denver Miners - 10
Portland, Oregon; Portland quarterback Bryan Bennett and Paul James both ran for a touchdown as the Portland Pioneers defeated the Denver Miners 17-10 at Providence Park Sunday night.
Bennett threw for 92 yards, while completing 11 of 16 passes. He rushed for 76 yards and a score on 15 carries. Wendell Smallwood ran for 92 yards on 17 carries . Paul James had 3 carries for 5 yards and a score.
Vad Lee completed 19 of 33 passes for 179 yards, with one interception and sacked twice. Antonio Andrews ran 15 times for 83 yards. Derrick Ross ran for a score, while rushing 5 times for 7 yards for Denver.
