Orlando, Florida; Alex Collins ran for 124 yards on 27 carries, plus a touchdown reception as the Orlando Vipers defeated the Carolina Swarm 24-14 at Brighthouse Networks Stadium Friday night.
Carolina got on the board first as Shane Carden hit Dustin Keller for a 12 yard touchdown pass with 10: 28 remaining in the first quarter, finishing off a 7 play 71 yard drive. A Blair Walsh extra point gave Carolina a 7-0 lead.
With 1: 55 remaining in the first quarter, Orlando got on the board as Tim Tebow ran in from 14 yards out. A Jared Roberts extra point knotted things up at seven apiece. Orlando took the lead with 8: 44 remaining in the half as Tim Tebow connected with Isaiah Burse for a 17 yard touchdown pass, finishing a 9 play 72 yard drive. A Jared Roberts extra point made it 14-7 Orlando. Orlando added to their lead as Dan LeFevour hit Alex Collins for a 15 yard touchdown pass with just under two minutes left in the first half. With 1: 53 remaining in the game, Jared Roberts kicked a 31 yard field goal to give the Vipers a 24-7 lead.
Carolina got on the board as Brady Quinn came in and tossed a 6 yard touchdown pass to Andrew Caldwell as time expired. A Blair Walsh extra point made the final score Orlando 24 Carolina 14.
Tim Tebow finished completing 9 of 15 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. He also ran 14 times for 59 yards and a score. Isaiah Burse caught 3 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown to pace Orlando.
Carolina quarterback Shane Carden completed 23 of 35 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked once. Brady Quinn came in at relief, completing 4 of 4 passes for 23 yards and a score. Dustin Keller had six catches for 50 yards and one touchdown. Andrew Caldwell had a touchdown reception while catching 5 passes for 48 yards. Taylor Reed led the Swarm defense with 13 tackles as Carolina falls to 2-10.
Orlando improves to 6-6 on the year.
