SAN ANTONIO FRANCHISE SOLD!
San Antonio, Texas; The San Antonio Six-Shooters of the Associated Football Franchises of America has reportedly been sold. According to confirmed reports, a group of San Antonio business men called " S. A. Riders inc" has purchased the franchise for a reported forty million dollars.
A spokesman for the group stated that the team will stay in San Antonio. The team will also continue to play at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio. However, the team brand " Six-Shooters" will be dropped and replaced with the " Riders" brand.
It is reported that many in the group worked within the WLAF San Antonio franchise in 1992, 93 and look to give the old franchise a rebirth in the A. F. F. A. It would be the second franchise from a defunct league to be reborn if approved by league owners. The Michigan Panthers of the old USFL was given new life in the A. F. F. A, and is doing well.
" We love the city of San Antonio! We hope to bring stability and excitement to the football fans of this great city. San Antonio is a great football town and has the greatest football fans in the world. The A. F. F. A is a fun and exciting league that continues to grow. We are proud to be able to bring San Antonio Riders football back for the great fans of San Antonio and the city of San Antonio. Go Riders!!!" said the spokesman in a press conference held outside Alamo Stadium earlier today.
The sale and brand change must first be approved by a majority of league owners. A meeting of league owners is scheduled at the end of the 2017 season before the playoffs. Rumor has it that the sale should go through without much resistance.
It is also reported that the Oklahoma Roughnecks are interested in a brand change. More on this a information as it becomes available.
