Brooklyn, New York; Jeff Driskell threw for 195 yards and one touchdown as the Los Angeles Pharaohs defeated the New York Emporers 38-36 before a sold out MCU Park stadium crowd in Brooklyn, New York.
The Emporers took the lead early as Lamar Miller dashed 20 yards for a score, completing a 9 play 90 yard drive. A missed extra point made the score 6-0 Emporers. The Emporers would extend their lead, as Miller scored his second touchdown of the night, running in from 6 yards out. A Chris Milo extra point made the score 13-0 New York with :24 remaining in the first quarter.
Los Angeles got on the board as Terrell Watson darted in from three yards out with 8:57 remaining in the second quarter. A Caleb Sturgis extra point made it 13-7 New York. Los Angeles would take the lead as Johnny Adams returned a fumble 16 yards for a touchdown. A Sturgis extra point gave the Pharoahs a 14-13 lead with 7:48 remaining in the half.
New York would answer with 5:04 remaining as Chris Milo connected on a 36 yard field goal giving the Emporers a 16-14 lead. Los Angeles would answer twice late in the half as Jay Ajayi would run for 2 touchdowns ( 3, 8 ) as L.A. jumped to a 28- 16 lead. That is how the score stood at the half.
New York would score with 3:23 remaining in the third as Lamar Miller ran in from 11 yards out for his third touchdown of the night as the Emporers pulled within 5 at 28-23. The Pharoahs would answer however as Jeff Driskell hit Jo Don Duncan for a 15 yard touchdown pass with 1:01 remaining in the third quarter. The Pharoahs led 35-23.
New York would score early in the fourth as Johnny Manziel tossed a 24 yard touchdown pass to Geromino Allen with 14:32 remaining. A missed extra point made the score 35-29 L.A.
Los Angeles stretched their lead to 38-29 after a 48 yard field goal from Caleb Sturgis with 2:51 remaining in the game. The Emporers refused to lay down however, as Johnny Manziel hit Geronimo Allen for the second time, this time with a 62 yard strike with 1:40 remaining pulling the Emporers within 2 at 38-36. That is as close as the Emporers would get however as time ran out.
Lamar Miller finished with 104 yards and 3 touchdowns on 11 carries. Johnny Manziel completed 15 of 27 passes for 234 yards and 2 touchdowns and sacked twice. Geromino Allen had 2 catches for 68 yards and 2 scores as the Emporers fall to 6-5.
Jeff Driskell led Los Angeles completing 14 of 28 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked once. Terrell Watson ran 16 times for 76 yards and a touchdown. Jay Ajayi ran for two scores while rushing for 17 yards on 6 carries. Jo Don Duncan caught 3 passes for 52 yards and a score. Eric Ward had 5 receptions for 64 yards as the Pharoahs improved to 7-4 on the year.
