( 11-0) LOUISVILLE - 35 ( 5-6) ORLANDO - 14
Louisville, Kentucky: Bo Levi Mitchell completed 17 of 22 passes for 295 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Louisville Thoroughbreds clinched the Southeastern Division title with a 35-14 victory over the Orlando Vipers before a packed house at PaPa John's Cardinal Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Orlando drew first blood as Kenny Hillard ran in from 7 yards out, finishing a 17 play 86 yard drive that ate 9:11 off the clock. A J. Roberts extra point gave Orlando a 7-0 lead with 5: 43 remaining in the first quarter.
Louisville answered as Bo Levi Mitchell connected with Josh Stewart for a 8 yard touchdown pass with 2: 27 remaining in the first. The extra point knotted the score at 7-7. Orlando took back the lead as Kenny Hillard ran for another 7 yard touchdown run. A Brown extra point gave Orlando a 14-7 lead going in at half time.
Louisville came out firing in the second half as Bo Levi Mitchell hit Ryan Spadola for a 30 yard touchdown. A Brown extra point tied things up 14-14. Louisville took the lead with 4: 36 remaining as Zac Stacy rumbled for a 42 yard touchdown run. The extra point made it 21-14 Louisville.
Bo Levi Mitchell didn't waste time adding to the lead as he again hit Ryan Spadola, this time for a 29 yard touchdown pass giving Louisville a 28-14 lead with 14: 50 remaining in the contest. The Thoroughbreds put the game away as Mitchell hit Spadola a third time, this time a 50 yard strike that made the score 35-14. That was the final as Louisville remained unbeaten at 11-0.
" I couldn't be more proud of these guys, but the season isn't over yet. Bo ( Mitchell) played like he has all season. He is the leader of this team. Our defense has really stepped up each week. But we still have work to do to accomplish our goal." said head coach Bo Pelini after the win.
Zac Stacy ran 19 times for 114 yards and a score. Ryan Spadola had 5 receptions for 146 yards and 3 scores.
Tim Tebow threw for 156 yards while completing 19 of 26 passes. He also ran 18 times for 92 yards. Kenny Hillard ran 11 times for 42 yards and 2 touchdowns as Orlando slips to 5-6.
( 3-8) Philadelphia - 12 ( 6-5) Washington - 7
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: John Crockett ran for 90 yards on 25 carries as the Philadelphia Bulldogs defeated the Washington Wave 12-7. Alex Tanney completed 14 of 31 passes for 161 yards and 1 interception to lead the Bulldogs.
Washington was led by Mike Bercovici who completed 19 of 44 passes for 197 yards. Darrin Walls recorded a 58 yard interception return for a touchdown as the Wave fall to 6-5.
( 5-6) Memphis - 34 ( 5-6) Birmingham - 28
Birmingham, Alabama; Ricky Ray threw for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns, while completing 24 of 33 passes as the Memphis Knights defeated the Birmingham Predators 34-28 at Legion Field Saturday afternoon.
Zach Line ran 8 times for 46 yards and a score. Cameron Artis Payne was held to 40 yards on 13 carries. Marcus Johnson had 10 receptions for 115 yards and a score. Austin Collie caught 10 passes for 73 yards and two scores as the Knights improve to 5-6.
Trevor Harris led Birmingham (5-6) completing 21 of 31 passes for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was sacked twice. Rex Burkhead rushed for 91 yards on 22 carries. Nic Grisby ran 5 times for 37 yards and a score, plus caught 5 passes for 30 yards and 2 touchdowns. Casey Pierce had 3 receptions for 47 yards and a score. Marcus Roberson recorded 11 tackles and a pass deflection to lead the Predators defense.
( 3-8) Sacramento - 21 ( 8-3) Utah -17
Sacramento, California; Vic Ballard ran for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns plus caught 6 passes for 41 yards, as the Sacramento Crusaders ( 3-8) upset the Utah Mammoths ( 8-3) 21-17 at Hughes Stadium Saturday night.
Trevon Boykin threw for 126 yards and a touchdown, while completing 16 of 27 passes. Demarco Sam had a touchdown reception, catching 2 passes for 16 yards.
Dak Prescott completed 21 of 38 passes for 266 yards and 1 touchdown to lead Utah. He also ran 10 times for 46 yards. Cierre Wood ran 12 times for 47 yards and a score, plus had 7 catches for 83 yards. Tyrell Sutton had 9 carries for 66 yards. Darius Johnson had a touchdown reception while catching 4 passes for 49 yards in the loss.
