WEEK ONE SUNDAY WRAP-UP!

PITTSBURGH POWERS BY NEW YORK!

Brooklyn, NY;  Alex Carder's 18 yard 3rd quarter touchdown pass to Luke Wilson sparked the Pittsburgh Forge to a 32-25 win over the New York Emporers Sunday, before a capacity crowd at MCU Park Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Carder completed 15 of 30 passes for 131 yards and 1 touchdown, with no interceptions and sacked twice.  Tyler Gaffney ran for 58 yards on 15 carries and a score. Luke Wilson caught 7 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in the win for the Forge (1-0).

Johnny Manziel made his ASFL debut for the Emporers, completing 20 of 33 passes for 196 yards and 1 touchdown. He had 1 interception and was sacked twice. Manziel ran 8 times for 43 yards as well in the contest.

Lamar Miller ran 9 times for only 28 yards and Darrin Reeves ran for a score.  Geronimo Allen caught 6 passes for 57 yards. Nick O'Leary had 3 receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown. Marcus Williams recorded a 90 yards kick return for a score in the loss for the Emporers  (0-1).

Chicago, Illinois;  Brandon Doughty tossed two touchdowns , while throwing for 263 yards to lead the Chicago Stags (1-0) to an impressive 55-14 dismantling of the Omaha Bulls before 22,000 at Soldier Field Sunday.

Omaha couldn't muster much of anything offensively or defensively as they fall to (0-1). Bulls running back Trent Richardson made his ASFL debut, rushing for only 29 yards on 9 carries.

(1-0) Louisville- 34    (0-1) Carolina- 17

Louisville, KY;  Ray Rice made his return to pro football Sunday, this time with the Louisville Thouroghbreds of the ASFL.  Rice rumbled for 153 yards on 26 carries in leading the Thouroghbreds to a 34-17 win over the Carolina Swarm before 32,000 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Bo Levi Mitchell completed 16 of 21 passes for 233 yards and 4 touchdowns, with no interceptions in the win for Louisville  (1-0).

Brady Quinn led the Carolina attack completing 21 of 28 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown, with 1 interception in the loss. Carolina drops to (0-1).

(1-0) Oklahoma- 37      (0-1) San Antonio- 23

Norman, OK;  Matt Johnson threw for 349 yards and a pair of touchdowns, as the Oklahoma Roughnecks thrill a home crowd of just over 26,000 with a 37-23 victory over the San Antonio Six-Shooters.  Johnson completed 21 of 28 passes and was sacked one in the win.

San Antonio's Tajh Boyd completed 25 of 39 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown to lead the Six-Shooters in the loss.

WEEK ONE: SATURDAY'S GAMES 

1-0 Miami Sharks- 45   0-1 Orlando Vipers- 35

Orlando, FL:  Zach Collaros completed 21 of 31 passes for 393 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the Miami Sharks to a 45-35 victory over the Orlando Vipers Saturday at Bright House Stadium. Collaros was sacked twice.

David Cobb ran for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 carries. Ezell Ruffin had 6 catches for 138 yards and 2 scores. Jeff Heuerman and Nick Toon also had touchdown receptions in the win. Tajae Sharp had 8 catches for 91 yards.

Tim Tebow made his debut as Orlando quarterback,  throwing for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns while completing 17 of 33 passes. He was sacked once.
Isaiah Burke had 5 catches for 50 yards.  D'Runnya Wilson and Ryan Otten each had a touchdown reception.  Burke also had two punt returns for touchdowns  ( 76, 72).

BULLDOGS TOP CRUSADERS 26-13 IN SEASON OPENER!

Philadelphia, PA:  A crowd of 18,300 packed Talen Energy Stadium Friday night and we're not disappointed as the Philadelphia Bulldogs topped the Sacramento Crusaders 26-13 to open the 2017 ASFL season.

Bulldog quarterback Drew Willy threw for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns, while completing 24 of 33 passes. He was sacked once.
Brandon Whitaker ran for 58 yards on 10 carries. John Crockett ran for a score, while also catching 7 passes for 88 yards.
D'Haquille Williams caught 5 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. Fred Stamps also had a touchdown reception for the Bulldogs.

Sacramento quarterback Erik Meyer completed 15 of 33 passes for 201 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception to lead Sacramento. He was sacked once.
Terron Ward ran for 60 yards on 8 carries, plus caught 4 passes for 81 yards. Kenny Still had a touchdown reception, catching 3 passes for 40 yards. DeMarco Sam had 5 catches for 47 yards.

Danny Treavathan led the Bulldogs defense with 8 tackles. Andrew Hudson recorded 5 tackles, 1 sack, 2 stuffs and an interception.

Sacramento DE Michael Sam recorded 5 tackles, 1 stuff and 3 hurries. Josh Johnson led the Crusaders defense with 8 tackles.

The Bulldogs  ( 1-0 ) stay home next week as division and in state rival Pittsburgh Forge come to Talen Energy Stadium.

Sacramento  ( 0-1 ) go home next week to host the Portland Pioneers in a Pacific Division contest.
