Louisville, Kentucky:  Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Louisville Thoroughbreds defeated the New Orleans Nightmare 17-7 in a Eastern Conference Semi Final contest before a packed house at PaPa John's Cardinal Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Mitchell completed 15 of 21 passes and was sacked once. Ray Rice was held to 32 yards on 14 carries. Josh Stewart had 5 receptions for 85 yards and a score. Paul Turner caught 2 passes for 40 yards and a touchdown. EJ Bibbs caught 4 passes for 40 yards for the Thoroughbreds.

The Nightmare were led by quarterback Colby Cameron who completed 24 of 35 passes for 203 yards, plus ran for 33 yards and a touchdown on 6 carries.  He was sacked twice. Jerome Messum ran 13 times for 45 yards.

Louisville jumped on top with 11:01 in the first stanza, as Bo Levi Mitchell threw a 28 yard touchdown pass to Paul Turner, giving the Thoroughbreds a 7-0 lead.

With 10:49 remaining after a New Orleans fumble, Bo Levi Mitchell hit Josh Stewart for a 15 yard touchdown stretching the Thoroughbreds lead to 14-0. That is were it stood at the half.

Louisville made it 17-0 as Josh Brown kicked a 34 yard field goal with 14:57 remaining in the game.  New Orleans got on the board with 1:54 remaining as Colby Cameron ran in from 6 yards out making the final score 17-7 Louisville.

Louisville will meet the Dallas Outlaws in the Eastern Conference Championship next week at PaPa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

( 13-4 )  Chicago Stags - 37    ( 9-8 ) Michigan Panthers - 6

Chicago, Illinois:  Alfred Morris ran for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns on 31 carries in leading the Chicago Stags to a 37-6 demolition of the Michigan Panthers Sunday evening. With the victory, the Stags advance to the Western Conference Championship Game against the Utah Mammoths here next week.

Brandon Doughty completed 19 of 25 passes for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns. Marcus Murphy ran for a score while rushing for 23 yards on six carries. Willie Snead caught 6 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Gator Hoskins had 5 catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. Jelani Jenkins led the Stags defense with 7 tackles,  1 pass deflection and 2 stuffs.

The Panthers do little offensively held to only 89 yards net offense,  compared to 407 net yards for the Stags.

Brandon Doughty got things going by throwing a 23 yard touchdown pass to Willie Snead completing a 7 play 71 yard drive, taking 4:26 off the clock. A Nick Pertuit extra point made the score 7-0 Stags. With 2:21 remaining in the first quarter,  Nick Pertuit converted on a 22 yard field goal giving the Stags a 10-0 lead.

With 12:02 remaining, Alfred Morris powered in from 2 yards out completing a 10 play,  63 yard drive. A Nick Pruitt extra point made it 17-0 Stags.

Michigan got on the board with 10:23 in the second quarter as Jaden Oberkrom kicked a 52 yard field goal making the score Stags - 17   Panthers - 3.   Stags extended their lead to 23-3 as Alfred Morris ran for his second touchdown of the evening with 3:50 remaining in the first half. The extra point was no good.

Panthers kicker Jaden Oberkrom made the score 23-6 with a 42 yard field goal with 8:05 remaining in the third quarter.  Then with 26 seconds left in the third, Marcus Murphy ran in from 8 yards out finishing a 11 play,  67 yard drive that took 7:32 off the clock to put the Stags up 30-6. Chicago rounded out the scoring as Brandon Doughty hit Gator Hoskins for a 13 yard touchdown pass with 3:35 remaining.  The final score;  Stags- 37   Panthers -6.

SATURDAY PLAY OFF RESULTS! CONFERENCE SEMI FINALS


EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI FINAL

( 12-5 )  Dallas Outlaws - 26    ( 9-8 )  Pittsburgh Forge - 17

Dallas, Texas:  Jasper Collins collected 4 receptions for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 84 yard catch and run as the Dallas Outlaws advance to the Eastern Conference Championship game with a 26- 17 play-off win over the Pittsburgh Forge Saturday afternoon.

Outlaws quarterback Mike Reilly completed 13 of 18 passes for 283 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked twice. Akeem Hunt ran 5 times for 64 yards. Lennon Creer ran 12 times for 63 yards. Justin Medlock went 4 for 4 on field goals in the win.

Pittsburgh was led by quarterback Alex Carder who threw 198 yards and 2 touchdowns, while completing 13 of 25 passes. Tyler Gaffney ran 18 times for 54 yards, plus had a touchdown reception.  Eric Rogers caught 4 passes for 65 yards. Alec Lemon had 4 receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Dallas led 10-0 after Mike Reilly hit Jasper Collins for a 84 yard touchdown pass with 2:20 remaining in the first half.

Pittsburgh got on the board with 32 seconds remaining in the first half as Alex Carder flipped a two yard touchdown pass to Tyler Gaffney. The score stood 10-7 at the half.

Dallas opened the second half with a 27 yard field goal from Justin Medlock, giving the Outlaws a 13-7 lead with 9:45 remaining in the third quarter.  Outlaws stretched their lead to 20- 7 as Mike Reilly again connected with Jasper Collins, this time on a 50 yard touchdown pass with 6:32 left in the third.

Dallas made it 23-7 as Justin Medlock kicked a 22 yard field goal with 14:19 remaining. Pittsburgh answerd as Swayze Waters connected on a 31 yard field goal making the score 23-10 with 8:42 left. Dallas made it 26-10 as Justin Medlock hit on a 24 yard field goal with 3:10 remaining.

With 1:53 remaining in the contest,  Alex Carder threw a 23 yard touchdown pass to Alec Lemon making the final score 26-17.

Dallas will face the winner of the Louisville-New Orleans contest in the Eastern Conference Championship next week.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

( 12-5 )  Utah Mammoths -29    ( 8-9 ) San Antonio Six-Shooters - 17

Salt Lake City, Utah:  Dak Prescott completed 20 of 24 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown,  while also rushing for 115 yards on 15 carries to lead the Utah Mammoths to a 29-17 victory over the San Antonio Six-Shooters in a Western Conference Semi Final contest. Charleston Hughes led the defense with 5 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 hurry and a safety.

Tyrell Sutton ran for 31 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Rolly Lumballa ran 10 times for 41 yards. DeAndre Carter had 6 receptions for 79 yards and a score. Asante Samuel had a 14 yard interception return for a score.

Marshaun Coprich led San Antonio rushing for 51 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.  Tajh Boyd threw for only 78 yards, while completing 7 of 10 passes. He was sacked 5 times. Troy Stoudermier had a 194 yards in kick returns on 5 attempts, including a 95 yard touchdown return.

Utah got on the board first as Dak Prescott threw a 30 yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Carter with 8:13 remaining in the first quarter. San Antonio answerd as Marshaun Coprich ran in from 6 yards out tying the score at 7.  Utah took the lead with 34 seconds remaining as Josiah Yazdani kicked a 44 yard field goal giving the Mammoths a 10-7 lead.

San Antonio tied the score at 10, when Ka'imi Fairbairn booted a 45 yard field goal with 12:49 in the second quarter. Utah regained the lead with 16 seconds remaining in the half as Josiah Yazdani connected on a 31 yard field goal.  The score at the half,  Utah- 13  San Antonio - 10.

The score stood till Tyrell Sutton ran in from 2 yards out giving Utah a 20-10 lead with 8:30 remaining in the game.  San Antonio made it 20-17 with 8:24 remaining, as Troy Stoudemier intercepted a Dak Prescott pass and returned it 95 yards for a touchdown. Utah took the lead for good as Asante Samuel picked off a pass and returned it 14 yards for a score with 3:45 remaining giving the Mammoths a 27-17 lead.  Charleston Hughes rounded out the scoring sacking Tajh Boyd in the end zone for a safety. It was his second sack of the game.

Utah now advances to the Western Conference Championship against either Chicago or Michigan next week.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:  Alex Tanney hit D'Haquille Williams for a 57 yard touchdown pass in overtime as the Philadelphia Bulldogs won their seventh straight with a 39-33 victory over their cross state and division rival Pittsburgh Forge.

Tanney completed 26 of 34 passes for 389 yards and 3 touchdowns. He threw 1 interception and was sacked 3 times. Brandon Whitaker ran 13 times for 87 yards. John Crockett ran 16 times for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns. D'Haquille Williams had 8 receptions for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Khari Lee had 9 catches for 131 yards. Fred Stamps had a touchdown reception, catching 5 passes for 60 yards.

Alex Carder led the play off bound Forge, completing 29 of 42 passes for 382 yards and a touchdown. He threw one interception and was sacked once.  Tyler Gaffney ran 12 times for 57 yards and a score. Jeremy Lang ran for a score, rushing for 12 yards on 6 carries. Alec Lemon caught 8 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. Swayze went 4 for 4 on field goals.

The Atlantic Division Champion Forge ( 9-7 ) travel to Dallas next week to face the Dallas Outlaws in the Eastern Conference Semi Finals.

Philadelphia finishes at 8-8.

Louisville, Kentucky:  Ryan Spadola caught 6 passes for 101 yards and a score as the Louisville Thoroughbreds ( 15-1) showed no signs of letting up, rolling over the Omaha Bulls 30-7 before a sold out Pa Pa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 168 yards and a touchdown.  Ray Rice ran 22 times for 91 yards and a touchdown. Ben Malena ran 13 times for 90 yards and a score.  Josh Brown connected on 3 of 3 field goals.

Rakeem Cato completed 16 of 28 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked three times. Bennie Fowler caught 4 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bulls.

( 10-6 ) New Orleans Nightmare - 29   ( 2-14 )  Carolina Swarm - 26

New Orleans, Louisiana:  Colby Cameron threw a 23 yard touchdown pass to Moritz Boehringer with 29 seconds remaining to lift the New Orleans Nightmare to a 29-26 victory over the Carolina Swarm.

Cameron completed 21 of 40 passes for 314 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Ty Hilton had 6 receptions for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Moritz Boehringer also had a touchdown reception.

Shane Carden completed 27 of 40 passes for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns. He threw one interception and was sacked twice.  Zach Zenner ran for a score while rushing for 35 yards on 8 carries. Dom Williams had 8 receptions for 69 yards and a score. Luke Tasker caught 3 passes for 54 yards and a score to lead the Swarm.

( 7-9) Birmingham Predators - 20   ( 6-10 ) Houston Wranglers - 17

Birmingham, Alabama:  Rex Burkhead rushed for 108 yards and a score, plus had 2 receptions for 57 yards to lead the Birmingham Predators to a 20-17 win over the Houston Wranglers before 17, 300 at Legion Field Sunday afternoon.

Trevor Harris threw for 216 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked twice. Paul McRoberts caught 2 passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Brandon Allen completed 16 of 32 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked twice. Kapri Bibbs rushed for 58 yards and a score on 14 carries. Jamison Crowder had 6 receptions for 70 yards to lead Houston.

( 5-11 ) Sacramento Crusaders - 37   ( 6-10 ) Portland Pioneers - 13

Portland, Oregon:  Stevan Ridley ran for two touchdowns while rushing for 67 yards on 17 carries to lead the Sacramento Crusaders past the Portland Pioneers before 14, 212 at Providence Park Stadium Sunday.

Trevon Boykin completed 12 of 19 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown. He threw one interception and was sacked once. Vic Ballard ran 9 times for 41 yards and a touchdown. DeMarco Sam caught 4 passes for 80 yards. Austin Hill caught 3 passes for 49 yards and a score to lead Portland.

( 9-7 ) Miami Sharks - 16   ( 11-5 )  Utah Mammoths - 10

Salt Lake City, Utah:   Zach Collaros hit Tajae Sharp for a 36 yard touchdown pass with 11: 55 left in overtime as the Miami Sharks shock the Utah Mammoths 16-10 before a capacity crowd at Rice Eccles Stadium.

Zach Collaros threw for 314 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 of 38 passes. Tajae Sharp had 11 receptions for 196 yards and 2 scores as the Sharks finish at 9-7.

Dak Prescott completed 22 of 32 passes for 228 yards. He threw one interception and was sacked three times. He also ran for a score while rushing for 8 yards on six carries. DeAndre Carter had 7 catches for 99 yards to lead the Mammoths.

Late Game;  ( 9-7) Michigan Panthers - 43   ( 8-8 )  San Antonio Six-Shooters - 36

San Antonio, Texas:  Cody Kessler completed 28 of 36 passes for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Michigan Panthers claimed the Western Conference wild card with a 43-36 victory over the San Antonio Six-Shooters.

San Antonio captured the Frontier Division title due to Oklahoma's loss earlier.

A. F. F. A. SATURDAY RESULTS ( Week Seventeen)


( 11-5 )  Dallas Outlaws -34     ( 8-8 ) Washington Wave - 31

Dallas, Texas:  It may not have been the Cowboys and Redskins,  but the game between the Dallas Outlaws and the Washington Wave had the same excitement and electricity.  Mike Reilly threw for 356 yards and 3 touchdowns on 24 of 43 passes as the Outlaws defeated the Wave 34-31 before a sold out Gerald J. Ford Stadium crowd.

Ben Tate ran for a score, while rushing for 43 yards on 8 carries.  Jasper Collins caught 10 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown. Bud Sasser caught 4 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. Silas Reed had 2 catches for 13 yards and a score. Vontaze Burffict led the Outlaws defense with 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 pass deflection, a stuff and 2 forced fumbles.

With the win, the Outlaws clinched the Eastern Conference Mid-South Division title and will host the Pittsburgh Forge in the A. F. F. A.  EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI FINALS   next week.

Washington was led by quarterback Mike Bercovici, who completed 26 of 46 passes for 354 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked twice. Dontella Luckett had 7 catches for 164 yards and a touchdown. Chad Owens caught 6 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Kenneth Dixon ran for 54 yards on 8 carries. Chris Hairstone ran for a score, running 9 times for 6 yards. John Ojo and Dawan Landry led the Wave defense with 7 tackles apiece.

The Wave finish their season at 8-8.

( 8-8 )  Memphis Knights - 28     ( 7-9 ) Columbus Explorers - 21

Columbus, Ohio:  Ricky Ray completed 27 of 38 passes for 329 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Memphis Knights edged the Columbus Explorers 28-21 Saturday before a sold out Mapfre Stadium crowd.

Cameron Artis Payne ran 16 times for 81 yards. Austin Collie caught 9 passes for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns. L'Damian Washington had 5 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. Shayne Graham went 2 for 2 in field goal attempts, including a 32 yarder. Glenn Carson led the Knights defense with 11 tackles.

Terrelle Pryor led the Explorers, completing 19 of 28 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown. He also ran 9 times for 81 yards. Eric Breitenstein ran 13 times for only 41 yards, but scored twice. Austin Franklin had 3 catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. Darian Stewart led the defense with 8 tackles, 2 pass deflections and a interception as the Explorers finish the season 7-9.

Memphis finishes at 8-8.

( 12-4 ) Chicago Stags - 34   ( 8-8 )  Oklahoma Roughnecks - 27

Norman, Oklahoma:  Brandon Doughty threw two touchdown passes to Roger Lewis as the Chicago Stags defeated the Oklahoma Roughnecks 34-27 Saturday in Norman, Oklahoma.

Doughty finished completing 22 of 33 passes for 372 yards and 3 touchdowns. He threw one interception.  Alfred Morris rushed for 111 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries. Gator Hoskins had 5 receptions for for 84 yards and a score. Rodger Lewis caught 4 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns, including a 69 yarder.

Matt Johnson threw 2 touchdowns, while completing 30 of 50 passes for 317 yards. He threw one interception and was sacked six times. He also ran for a touchdown, while rushing 7 times for 14 yards. Cyrus Gray had 8 receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown, plus ran 5 times for 37 yards. Josh Harper caught 5 passes for 51 yards and a score. Chris Moore finished with 7 catches for 118 yards to lead the Roughnecks.

Late Game;  ( 8-8 ) Los Angeles Pharaohs - 41  ( 8-8 ) Denver Miners - 7

Jeff Driskell threw for 318 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Los Angeles Pharaohs crushed the Denver Miners 41-7 before 27, 566 at Sports Authority field @ Mile High Saturday night.

( 8-8 ) New York Emporers - 27    ( 7-9 ) Hartford Sentinels - 16

Storrs, Connecticut:  Johnny Manziel completed 20 of 27 passes for 233 yards as the New York Emporers defeated the Hartford Sentinels Friday night at Rentschler Field.

Manziel was sacked once, plus ran for 40 yards on 5 attempts.

Darrin Reaves ran for 46 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Ross Scheurman ran 6 times for 26 yards and a score, plus caught 4 passes for 38 yards. Lamar Miller ran 6 times for 48 yards and caught 6 passes for 48 yards. Chris Milo connected on 2 of 3 field goals including a 40 yarder. Richard Marshall led the Emporers defense with 8 tackles, 1 pass deflection and a interception ( 20 yards ).

Connor Halliday threw for 267 yards and 2 touchdowns on 24 of 42 passes. He was sacked once and threw one interception. Devon Johnson ran seven times for 40 yards. Nick Boyle caught 7 passes for 97 yards and a score. Antwan Goodley had 3 receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown as the Sentinels finish at 7-9.

SUNDAY WRAP UP ( Week Sixteen)


( 7-8 ) Hartford Sentinels - 38    ( 8-7 ) Washington Wave - 9

Storrs, Connecticut;  Connor Halliday completed 18 of 31 passes for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Hartford Sentinels dominated the Washington Wave 38-9 at Rentschler Field Sunday afternoon.

Halliday threw one interception and was sacked twice.  Devon Johnson ran for a score while rushing for 88 yards on 11 carries. Jordan Payton had 6 receptions for 71 yards. Jacob Pederson caught 5 passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.  Jamal Robinson had 4 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown. Antwan Goodley had two receptions for 42 yards and a score in the win. Ryan Murphy had a 56 yard fumble return for a score.

Mike Bercovici led the Wave attack,  completing 26 of 44 passes for 265 yards. He was sacked twice. Chris Hairstone had 7 receptions for 89 yards. Justin Tucker went 3 for 3 on field goals in the loss.

With the loss Washington was eliminated from playoff contention.

( 8-7 ) Oklahoma Roughnecks - 42    ( 9-6)  New Orleans Nightmare - 31

Norman, Oklahoma:  Matt Johnson again laid claim to league MVP,  completing 31 of 47 passes for 429 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Roughnecks kept their play-off hopes alive with a 42-31 victory over the New Orleans Nightmare Sunday  afternoon.

Thomas Rawls ran for 115 yards and a score on 13 carries. Cyrus Gray ran 11 times on 111 yards and 2 touchdowns,  plus caught 8 passes for 64 yards. Chandler Jones had 5 receptions for 87 yards and a score. Chris Moore had 3 receptions for 120 yards, including a 67 yard touchdown.

Nightmare quarterback Colby Cameron completed 22 of 37 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception and was sacked twice. Brandon Rutlege ran for a touchdown while rushing for 31 yards on 5 carries. Jerome Messum ran 7 times for 57 yards. Ty Hilton caught 8 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, plus had a 78 yard punt return for a score.  Cody Hoffman caught 4 passes for 41 yards and a score.

New Orleans has now lost 3 straight, but have already clinched a play-off spot.

( 8-7) Michigan Panthers - 31    ( 2-13) Carolina Swarm - 19

Raleigh, North Carolina:  Pharoh Cooper caught 5 passes for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Michigan Panthers defeated the Carolina Swarm 31-19 at Carter-Finley Stadium Sunday.

Cody Kessler threw for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns, while completing 18 of 27 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked four times. Paul Perkins ran for 65 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Darrin Pete had 6 receptions for 67 yards.

Shane Carden completed 24 of 39 passes for 346 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked twice. Zach Zenner ran 6 times for 35 yards and a touchdown. Tony Lippet had 5 receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown. Dustin Keller had a touchdown reception, catching 3 passes for 32 yards as the Swarm fall to 2-13.

Michigan can clinch a play-off spot with a win over San Antonio next week.

( 11-4 ) Utah Mammoths - 30   ( 8-7 ) Denver Miners - 17

Denver, Colorado: Dak Prescott completed 13 of 22 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns as the Utah Mammoths downed the Denver Miners 30-17 at Sports Authority Field @ Mile High.

Tyler Ervin ran 18 times for 79 yards and a touchdown.  DeAndre Carter had three receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown. Dezmin Lewis caught 2 passes for 41 yards and a score. Madison Magnum had 5 receptions for 52 yards for the Mammoths.

For Denver,  Vad Lee completed 15 of 35 passes for 190 yards and no touchdowns. He threw three interceptions and sacked twice. Lee also ran 5 times for 57 yards. Keyarris Garrett caught 5 passes for 114 yards.

( 6-9 ) Portland Pioneers - 30      ( 7-8 ) Los Angeles Pharaohs - 24  ( OT ) 

Portland, Oregon:  AJ McCarron hit Geremy Davis for a six yard touchdown in overtime, to lift the Portland Pioneers to a 30-24 victory over the Los Angeles Pharaohs at Providence Park Stadium Sunday.

McCarron completed 27 of 43 passes for 309 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked twice.  Paul James rushed for 77 yards on 14 carries. League leading rusher Miguel Maysonett was held to 32 yards on 7 carries. Geremy Davis caught 7 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. Titus Davis had 6 receptions for 69 yards and a score for Portland.

Jeff Driskell threw for 162 yards and a touchdown on 9 of 22 passing.  Terrell Watson ran 13 times for 77 yards. Monte Ball ran 5 times for 10 yards and a touchdown. Jay Ajayi ran only 4 times for 4 yards and a score. Joe Don Duncan caught 5 passes for 64 yards. Andy Jones caught 2 passes for 77 yards, including a 58 yard touchdown catch to pace the Pharaohs.

( 6-9 ) Houston Wranglers - 34     ( 10-5 ) Dallas Outlaws - 26

Houston, Texas:   Jamison Crowder caught 9 passes for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Houston Wranglers to a  34-26 victory over the Dallas Outlaws before a capacity crowd at TDECU Stadium in Houston Sunday night.

Brandon Allen completed 18 of 27 passes for 224 yards and 3 touchdowns with one interception. Kapri Bibbs rushed for 113 yards on 15 carries. Jeremiah Johnson ran for a score while rushing for 36 yards on 9 carries. Deontay Greg had 5 receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown for the Wranglers.

Dallas quarterback Mike Reilly completed 34 of 50 passes for 399 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked once. He also ran for 47 yards on 7 carries. Jasper Collins caught 9 passes for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Outlaws.

Dallas has clinched a play-off berth and can clinch Mid-South Division title with a win against the Washington Wave next week or with a New Orleans loss.

A. F. F. A. SATURDAY WRAP UP ( Week Sixteen)


( 7-8) Philadelphia Bulldogs - 19     ( 4-11) Arizona Scorpions - 17

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;  Mark Lewis kicked a game winning 36 yard field goal with just under a minute to play, as the Philadelphia Bulldogs defeated the Arizona Scorpions 19-17 for their sixth straight win.

Alex Tanney completed 23 of 39 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown, despite being sacked 5 times. John Crockett ran for 88 yards and a score on 18 carries. D'Haquille Williams had 7 receptions for 82 yards. Rod Windsor caught 6 passes for 71 yards. Khari Lee caught 4 passes for 64 yards and a score for the Bulldogs.

Arizona was led by quarterback Ryan Nassib, who completed 19 of 36 passes for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns. He threw two interceptions.  Tim Cornett ran 12 times for 59 yards. Ray Graham caught 5 passes for 66 yards and a score, plus ran for 31 yards on 5 carries. Rashad Green had 3 receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown. Tommy Shuler caught 6 passes for 78 yards in the loss for the Scorpions.

( 6-9) Omaha Bulls - 45    ( 6-9) Birmingham Predators - 10

Omaha, Nebraska;  Rakeem Cato threw 3 touchdowns while completing 17 of 23 passes for  260 yards and ran for another touchdown,  as the Omaha Bulls routed the Birmingham Predators 45-10 Saturday before 19, 233 at TD Ameritrade Park.

Trent Richardson ran for 2 touchdowns while rushing for 67 yards on 17 carries. Richardson also caught 4 passes for 41 yards. Alfred Blue ran 16 times for 43 yards for the Bulls.

Trevor Harris did not have a good game, completing 12 of 27 passes for 82 yards. He threw two interceptions and was sacked twice. Rex Burkhead ran for a touchdown, while rushing for only 32 yards on 11 carries. Nic Grisby had 5 receptions for 37 yards in the loss for Birmingham.

( 11-4) Chicago Stags - 45    ( 8-7) San Antonio Six-Shooters - 24

San Antonio, Texas;  Alfred Morris ran 21 times for 144 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Chicago Stags rolled over the San Antonio Six-Shooters 45-24 at Alamo Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Brandon Doughty completed 20 of 38 passes for 270 yards and a touchdown. He threw one interception. Willie Snead caught 7 passes for 103 yards. Roger Lewis had a touchdown reception, catching 2 passes for 34 yards. Marrio Norman led the Stags defense with 11 tackles, 1 sack, 1 hurry and a forced fumble.

Tajh Boyd completed 23 of 35 passes for 259 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked four times. Boyd also ran 12 times for 60 yards. Marshaun Coprich was held to 41 yards on 10 carries. Drew Tate came in late and completed 2 of 3 passes for 71 yards and one touchdown.  Marco Thomas caught 5 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. Jack Doyle had 4 catches for 52 yards and a score. Adarius Bowman also had a touchdown reception, catching 3 passes for 35 yards.

( 8-7) Miami Sharks - 27    ( 7-8) Memphis Knights - 17

Miami, Florida;  Zach Collaros threw for 338 yards and two touchdowns as the Miami Sharks climbed back into the play off chase with a 27-17 win over the Memphis Knights, before 27, 000 at FIU Stadium Saturday.

Colloras completed 22 of 27 passes and was sacked twice. David Cobb ran for 72 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries. Tajae Sharp caught 10 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Ezell Ruffin had 8 catches for 169 yards.

Memphis quarterback Ricky Ray completed 17 of 36 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked once.

The Memphis running game was held in check, rushing for -9 yards.  Austin Collie caught  5 passes for 39 yards and a score. Zack Line caught 6 passes for 35 yards in the loss for Memphis.

Shamar Stephenson led the Sharks defense with 6 tackles, 3 stuffs and a hurry.
Glenn Carson led the Memphis defense with 11 tackles, 1 stuff and 2 forced fumble.

( 7-8) Columbus Explorers - 33    ( 4-11)  Sacramento Crusaders - 29

Sacramento, California;  Eric Breitenstein continues to roll, this time rushing for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns on 13 carries as the Columbus Explorers defeated the Sacramento Crusaders 33-29 at Hughes Stadium Saturday night.

Terrelle Pryor completed 17 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, plus ran 9 times for 83 yards. Mycole Pruitt had 8 catches for 46 yards. Connor Vernon caught 3 passes for 45 yards. Jared Abbrederis had a touchdown reception, catching 2 passes for 17 yards. Andrew Turzilli also had a touchdown reception.

Trevon Boykin completed 24 of 34 passes for 329 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also running 6 times for 29 yards and a touchdown to lead the Crusaders. He was sacked four times.

Vic Ballard ran 11 times for 66 yards and a score. Austin Hill caught 5 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. Terron Ward had a touchdown reception, catching 3 passes for 42 yards. DeMarco Sam had 6 catches for 56 yards. Tyrone Holmes led the Crusaders defense with 9 tackles and one hurry. Michael Sam recorded 8 tackles and a hurry.

A. F. F. A. FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ( Week sixteen)


( 9-6) Pittsburgh Forge - 34    ( 7-8) New York Emporers - 32

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:  Tyler Gaffney ran for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 carries as the Pittsburgh Forge defeated the New York Emporers 34-32 in a key Atlantic Division contest at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh Friday night.

The fireworks started early as Pittsburgh's Mike Edwards returned the opening kick off 89 yards for a touchdown. The extra point made the score Forge- 7  Emporers -0.

New York returned the favor as on the ensuing kick off Marcus Williams took it to the house on a 90 yard kick return. The extra point tied the score at 7.

Pittsburgh took the lead with 9: 31 remaining in the first quarter as Tyler Gaffney ran in from 6 yards out for a score. The extra point made it Forge- 14  Emporers -7.  Pittsburgh extended their lead to 17-7 as Swayze Waters kicked a 25 yard field goal with 1: 02 remaining in the first.  After a New York fumble, Tyler Gaffney rumbled 39 yards for a score as time expired in the first quarter. A Waters extra point made it Forge - 24  Emporers - 7.

With 8: 10 remaining in the second quarter,  the Emporers made it 24-10 as Chris Milo connected from 30 yards out. The Emporers scored again with 2: 24 remaining in the first half as Johnny Manziel found Ross Scheurman from 6 yards out for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was fumbled, making the score 24-16 Forge.  Pittsburgh would extend their lead to 31-16 with 1: 02 remaining in the half, as Alex Carder hit Eric Rogers for a six yard touchdown pass. A Swayze Waters extra point made it 31-16. That is how it stood at halftime.

New York opened the scoring in the second half, as Chris Milo booted a 29 yard field goal with 10: 28 remaining in the third making it 31-19 Forge.  Pittsburgh would answer with 3: 59 remaining in the third, as Swayze Waters connected on a 37 yard field goal making it 34-19 Forge.

With 2: 43 remaining in the contest, Johnny Manziel found Ross Scheurman once again, this time on a short one yard touchdown pass. A Milo extra point made it 34-26 Forge.  Then with 1: 51 remaining New York's Josh Forrest picked off an Alex Carder pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown. A Chris Milo extra point pulled the Emporers within two at 34-32. That would be as close as the Emporers would get as the Forge eliminated the Emporers division title hopes with a 34-32 victory.

Alex Carder completed 21 of 36 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown. He threw one interception and was sacked once.  Luke Wilson had 6 receptions for 51 yards. Eric Rogers caught 4 passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Mike Edwards had 159 kick return yards on 4 attempts and a touchdown ( 89) yards for the Forge who move to 9-6 and first in the Atlantic Division.

For New York,  Johnny Manziel completed 16 of 33 passes for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lamar Miller ran 15 times for 75 yards. Ross Scheurman had 3 catches for 19 yards and 2 scores. Geromino Allen had 4 receptions for 38 yards. Marcus Williams had 109 kick return yards and a score on 2 attempts. Josh Forrest led the defense with 9 tackles, 1 hurry and a interception return for a touchdown ( 65 yards). New York falls to 7-8 and hopes for help to make playoffs.

( 7-7) Miami Sharks - 13     ( 7-7) New York Emporers -12

Miami, Florida;  Sam Ficken kicked a 51 yard field goal with 17 seconds remaining to lift the Miami Sharks past the New York Emporers 13-12 Sunday afternoon at FIU Stadium in Miami.

Zach Collaros threw for 220 yards, while completing 21 of 31 passes. He threw one interception and was sacked once.  David Cobb ran 19 times for 69 yards. Johnathan Gray ran for a score while rushing for 33 yards on 12 carries. Tajae Sharp caught 10 passes for 115 yards and Ezell Ruffin had 8 receptions for 85 yards. Sam Ficken went 2 for 2 on field goals, including a 51 yarder.

Johnny Manziel led New York, completing 18 of 30 passes for 183 yards, plus ran for a touchdown ( 18 yards). Lamar Miller ran 12 times for 36 yards and caught 5 passes for 45 yards.

AJ Klein led the Sharks defense with 10 tackles and a stuff.


( 7-7)  Memphis Knights - 23   ( 7-8) Orlando Vipers - 13

Memphis, Tennessee:  Ricky Ray tossed two touchdowns to Austin Collie as the Memphis Knights defeated the Orlando Vipers 23-13 before 26, 000 at the Liberty Bowl.

Ray completed 22 of 31 passes for 258 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked once. Zack Line ran 10 times for 63 yards. Marcus Johnson had 8 receptions for 100 yards.  Austin Collie caught 5 passes for 80 yards. Shayne Graham went 3 for 3 on field goals as Memphis improved to 7-7.

Tim Tebow threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns while completing 13 of 26 passes. He also ran 9 times for 65 yards. He was sacked three times.
Isaiah Burse had 5 receptions for 110 yards and 2 scores for the Vipers as they fall to 7-8.


( 8-6) Denver Miners - 27    ( 5-9) Houston Wranglers - 17

Houston, Texas: Vad Lee threw two late fourth quarter touchdowns as the Denver Miners knocked off the Houston Wranglers 27-17 Sunday afternoon.

Lee completed 19 of 28 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 61 yards on 6 carries.  Antonio Andrews had 11 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. Chris Williams had 6 catches for 100 yards. Keyarris Garrett had 3 receptions for 38 yards and a score. Marqueis Greg also had a touchdown reception.

Brandon Allen threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 26 of 42 passes for the Wranglers. Kapri Bibbs rushed for 77 yards on 13 carries. Jason Avant caught 6 passes for 75 yards and one touchdown. Roddy White had 3 receptions for 70 yards and a score as the Wranglers drop to 5-9.


( 7-7) Michigan Panthers - 24    ( 7-7) Los Angeles Pharaohs - 23

Detroit, Michigan:  Cody Kessler threw for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Michigan Panthers up ended the Los Angeles Pharaohs 24-23 in Detroit Sunday.

Kessler completed 26 of 35 passes and was sacked four times. Paul Perkins ran 16 times for 76 yards and one touchdown. Albert Wilson caught 7 passes for 89 yards and a score. Darrin Pete had 7 receptions for 99 yards. Issac Blake also had a touchdown reception as the Panthers move to 7-7.

Los Angeles quarterback Jeff Driskell completed 17 of 33 passes for 320 yards and one touchdown. He threw one interception and was sacked twice.  Terrell Watson rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Jo Don Duncan caught 5 passes for 110 yards and a score.  Andy Jones had 5 catches for 92 yards in the loss.


( 4-10) Sacramento Crusaders - 30    ( 4-10) Arizona Scorpions - 16

Glendale, Arizona:  Trevon Boykin had probably his best game as a pro, completing 23 of 32 passes for 308 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Sacramento Crusaders defeated the Arizona Scorpions 30-16.

Vic Ballard ran 15 times for 85 yards. Austin Hill caught 6 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown. Demarco Sam had 8 catches for 85 yards and a score. Colt Lyerla also had a touchdown reception, catching 5 passes for 72 yards in the win for the Crusaders ( 4-10).

Ryan Nassib completed 11 of 22 passes for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked twice.  Ray Graham rushed for 51 yards on 10 carries. Rashad Green had 5 receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns in the loss for the Scorpions ( 4-10).

Salt Lake City,  Utah:  Mike Reilly threw for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Dallas Outlaws defeated the Utah Mammoths 27-13 in a battle of division leaders.

Mike Reilly completed 24 of 41 passes with 1 interception and was sacked 3 times. Silas Reed ran for 2 scores while rushing for 42 yards on 6 carries. Jasper Collins had 6 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown. Ben Tate had a touchdown reception, catching 5 passes for 24 yards. He also ran 9 times for 32 yards. Chris Davis led the defense with 10 tackles in the win.

Mammoths quarterback Dak Prescott completed 17 of 26 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown with an interception and sacked three times. Prescott also ran 10 times for 19 yards as he was harassed all game long.

Tyrell Sutton caught 6 passes for 60 yards, plus ran for 20 yards on 8 carries in the loss.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:  John Crockett ran for two touchdowns while rushing for 91 yards on 15 carries as the Philadelphia Bulldogs defeated the Oklahoma Roughnecks 40-34 in a shootout at Financial Field in Philadelphia Sunday night.

Alex Tanney completed 21 of 28 passes for 291 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also ran for a score. Rod Windsor caught 5 passes for 107 yards. Brandon Whitaker had 6 receptions for 100 yards. D'Haquille Williams had 5 catches for 46 yards and a score. Danny Trevathon led the defense with 11 tackles and a pass deflection.

League leading passer Matt Johnson led the Roughnecks, completing 30 of 46 passes for 325 yards and 3 touchdowns. He threw 3 interceptions and was sacked twice. Thomas Rawls ran 13 times for 49 yards. Cyrus Gray ran for a score while rushing for 37 yards on 6 carries, plus had 10 receptions for 81 yards and a score. Josh Harper had 6 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. Chris Gragg had a touchdown reception, while catching 5 passes for 71 yards.

A. F. F. A. SATURDAY WRAP UP! Week Fifteen


( 8-6)  Pittsburgh Forge - 27     ( 2-12)  Carolina Swarm - 17

Raleigh, N. C:  Tyler Gaffney ran for two touchdowns as the Pittsburgh Forge defeated the Carolina Swarm 27-17 before 13, 100 at Carter-Finley Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Gaffney finish with 53 yards on 12 carries.  Quarterback Alex Carder completed 18 of 36 passes for 190 yards. He was sacked once.  Alec Lemon had 5 receptions for 59 yards. Swayze Waters went 2 for 2 on field goals, including a 53 yarder. Jamari Lattimore led the Forge defense with 10 tackles and a forced fumble. Jeremy Lang also ran for a score.

Shane Carden led the Swarm, completing 23 of 43 passes for 257 yards and one touchdown. He threw one interception and was sacked twice.  Jacquizz Rogers was primarily ineffective rushing 8 times for only 38 yards, but had a touchdown reception.  Tony Lippet caught 3 passes for 78 yards, plus had a 67 yard run. Carolina falls to 2-12 on the year.

( 14-1) Louisville Thoroughbreds - 34     ( 8-6)  San Antonio Six-Shooters - 10

Louisville, Kentucky;  Ryan Spadola caught 7 passes for 111 yards and a score as the Louisville Thoroughbreds trampled the San Antonio Six-Shooters 34-10, before a near capacity crowd at PaPa John's Cardinal Stadium Saturday.

Ray Rice made his return from shoulder injury, rushing for 102 yards and a score on 24 carries.  Bo Levi Mitchell completed 19 of 24 passes for 232 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked once. Ben Malena scored twice, rushing for 23 yards on 11 carries in the win.

Tajh Boyd threw for 115 yards and a touchdown, while completing 10 of 23 passes to lead the Six-Shooters. He threw two interceptions and was sacked once. Marshaun Coprich ran 12 times for 51 yards. Jack Doyle had a touchdown reception as the Six-Shooters fall to 8-6.

( 6-8) Columbus Explorers - 45     ( 9-5) New Orleans Nightmare - 24

Columbus, Ohio:  Eric Breitenstein shredded the New Orleans Nightmare defense, rushing for 169 yards and 4 touchdowns on 20 carries, as the Columbus Explorers crushed the Nightmare 45-24 before a sold out Mapfre Stadium Saturday.

Terrelle Pryor had a great game throwing for 328 yards and two touchdowns, while completing 24 of 32 passes. Jared Abbrederis had 8 catches for 99 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Tarzilli had 3 receptions for 89 yards and a score for the Explorers.

The Nightmare was led by quarterback Colby Cameron, who completed 18 of 36 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked once. Rannell Hall had a 50 yard touchdown run, plus caught 3 passes for 44 yards and a score for the Nightmare.

( 8-6) Washington Wave - 38      ( 6-8) Birmingham Predators - 16

Washington, DC;  Mike Bercovici completed 17 of 26 passes for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns to guide the Washington Wave to a 38-16 triumph over the Birmingham Predators at RFK Stadium Saturday evening.

Kenneth Dixon had a solid performance, rushing 17 times for 119 yards and two touchdowns, plus a touchdown reception.  Dontella Luckett had 8 receptions for 152 yards and two scores as the Wave stay in contention in the Atlantic Division.

Trevor Harris completed 21 of 33 passes for 235 yards and a interception for Birmingham. Rex Burkhead ran 13 times for 73 yards and a touchdown. Jakeem Grant caught 5 passes for 68 yards in the loss.

Brandon Spikes led the Wave defense with 10 tackles and 2 stuffs.

( 5-9) Omaha Bulls - 38      ( 5-9)  Portland Pioneers - 31

Portland, Oregon:  Trent Richardson ran in from two yards out with 37 seconds remaining, breaking a 31-31 deadlock to lift the Omaha Bulls to a 38-31 win over the Portland Pioneers at Providence Park Stadium Saturday night.

Rakeem Cato led the Bulls, completing 22 of 39 passes for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns despite being sacked 5 times. He threw one interception. Trent Richardson ran 16 times for 57 yards and 2 touchdowns. Mike Thomas caught 4 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. John O'Shay had 4 catches for 50 yards and a score.

A.J. McCarron completed 17 of 29 passes for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns for Portland. He threw two interceptions and was sacked three times. Wendell Smallwood had 137 yards rushing on 15 carries and no touchdowns. Titus Davis caught 5 passes for 83 yards and a score. Allen Hurns had 4 receptions for 60 yards and a score. Geremy Davis chipped in with 4 catches for 64 yards and a score.

A. F. F. A. FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ( Week Fifteen )



( 10-4) Chicago Stags - 28     ( 6-8) Hartford Sentinels - 20

Storrs, Connecticut;   Brandon Doughty completed 13 of 21 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns and Kyle Emanuel recorded 3 sacks as the Chicago Stags defeated the Hartford Sentinels 28-20 at Rentschler Field Friday night.

Alfred Morris ran for 138 yards and a score on 22 carries. Dominique Brooks also ran for a score while rushing for 18 yards on 5 carries.  Willie Snead caught 6 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. Roger Lewis had a touchdown reception, catching 2 passes for 45 yards in the win.

Connor Halliday threw for 340 yards on 39 of 59 completions and no touchdowns. He was sacked three times.  Devon Johnson ran 8 times for 54 yards and a score. Antwan Goodley had 9 receptions for 114 yards for the Sentinels who fall to 6-8 on the year.

Chicago moved to 10-4 and clinched the Great Lakes Division title with the win.
